Re: I need to take piano lessons.....

But I have two dilema's. Firstly, I cannot justify spending alot of money on just a digital piano (or an old upright). With that in mind, I've just gone a bought myself a Yamaha XS8  For you pianists out there who have Yamaha S90, s90ES and Motif experience - do you think the XS8 will suffice ...

To the best of my knowledge. I've only used a demo version of FM7 minimally and I've never used FM8, but my understanding is that the operator routings and feedback loops can be done manually in the software; in the DX, they're "hardwired," although I feel there are enough of these preset operator ...

So the algorithms is pretty much the same as the matrix in FM8, but just simpler?

Re: Starting a synthesizer company

Hey guys. This is a pretty random question cause I don't know much about building synthesizers but I love playing them, have quite a few and I have some ideas I want in them that currently don't exist. I am wondering how much roughly it would cost to pay a group of engineers to work with me on buil...

What are you looking for? I just picked up a UF5 and have not had a chance to even use it yet. What don't you like about the CME? I took it out of the box and placed it in my studio and that's about it so I can't really say. It seemed the action was tight and the case was made of metal and not plas...

Great post right there. Stick with subtractive synthesis and learn that inside out before venturing into other forms of synthesis. As Media said, FM and Additive can get quite confusing and even frustrating to the novice musician. Im not a total newbie. I know subtractive and almost FM. Granted, bu...

I love FM synths but getting a DX7 does not really seem to be what you were origionally after. Of all of the synths mentioned in this thread, the DX7 is the easiest to replicate with a soft synth both in sound and interface. Unless you are just desperate for hardware, I would push you back towards ...

Are they just a pain to program or do they work? Yes, Seriously, I'm quite fond of some of the DX7 sounds, but I've never been able to take the time to learn to program one -- I had one in my possession for about six weeks several years ago -- and I understand that the learning curve is steep. The ...
