Re: Windows 8

I think Traverso is one of those abandoned applications. Ardour is about to hit version 3.0 (midi support!) QTractor isn't bad. The problem is, audio processing is a relatively minor computer activity and desktop linux is a minor o/s. So you have a small number of people in a minority group doing th...

Re: Windows 8

You want something that's open and you don't need to worry about big brother deleting your software? http://www.linux.org/ Yes, instead you just have to worry about the developer(s) of your software going off to another project, or just disappearing and leaving you with software frozen in time.. Ye...

Re: Windows 8

I work as a software developer and I only know two people who tried windows 8. One stopped using it because of wifi problems - no doubt that will be fixed in time as more/better drivers become available. The other guy stopped using it because he felt it was awkward, and his windows 7 setup works fin...

Re: question

I reckon the cheapest way would be to start with software, and maybe a midi keyboard to help. What software though? Many applications have demo versions, hunt around. Or just go straight to Reaper :-) You'll need that or something similar for midi sequencing and running your soft synths. Software in...

Re: Windows 8

Ouch! I suspect that situation might improve as drivers are updated, remembering the o/s isn't yet available for sale to general users. I've heard mixed reviews of the UI formerly known as metro too.... but it doesn't take much effort to tame it or ignore it for the most part if you don't like it. B...

Windows 8

Anyone been trying out windows 8? I hear tales of horror at the touch interface for regular desktop users, but I also hear it is more efficient than win7. Windows 8 is hitting the stores in October, but the final release is available to MSDN subscribers and the like. Uggh... Edit: maybe this should ...

Re: Animoog update

Bugfix to 1.1.1 released today. Works fine. If you've bought any patches in previous version they will show up under the '.' (dot) menu in the new presets dropdown thingy.
