If anyone's interested, I have set up a blog at http://linux-audio-music.blogspot.com which is about umm, linux, synths and so on. It's early days yet, but in amongst the posts are some reports on using VSTs under linux, including demos of Arturia Jupiter8 and Ni's FM8.

:D OK. At one point I insalled Visual Studio Express in vmware - I used to be a software developer and I wanted to try out those tools. We were going to get them at work for the PC side of things, but I decided to leave the IT department. My work doesn't involve development any more. I tell develope...

Hi, Thanks for that. I have VMWare running winXP, mostly to test web page layouts in Internet Explorer. I haven't set the VM up with sound support, but I've been thinking about rebuilding it. Other than that I use linux all the time. I'll give it a try and see what happens. I don't have a low latenc...

Linux Users?

Hi all, Are there any linux people? If so, what software/hardware do you use? I have an old laptop running Ubuntu 6.06 plus a few synths (zynaddsubfx, amsynth, horgand, qsynth, etc) plus seq24/rosegarden sequencers. Hardware-wise I have a microkorg. When funds are available I might go for an electri...

Hi, I have limited space for gear so a laptop with softsynths is better than nothing. Mind you I spend all day at work staring at computer screens so it would be great to spend some time away from them. My laptop uses linux so I'm a little limited with what I can use. There are some nice linux synth...

If you mean proper synths, not software - Last week!!! :D Been into synths for years, but never got round to buying one. Decided I'm at an age when I should be doing things like this. My mates bought motorbikes, I went for a microkorg. And I'm having great fun with it, as a standalone and running a ...

Hi, I like Zynaddsubfx, Amsynth and hydrogen, plus qsynth for playing with soundfonts. Horgand is another nice simple synth for organ sounds. I use Rosegarden for sequencing, but I'm currently taking a look at seq24 too. Plus I've been trying out a bunch of vst's using dssi-vst. It works great, even...

Hi,

Haven't used Studio yet. I use ubuntu 6.06 - the JACK stuff can be installed from the synaptic package manager. The ubuntu forums are a great resource. I used them to get dssi_vst working.
