Re: Bluesynths developer needs synth community help...

@SWAN: Thanks Swan. Definitely think it has potential from a professional networking level. On its first day of release (last week), I did post a discrete topic on Gearslutz under the Products section requesting beta testers. I got a lot of good feedback and members signing up, but the owner (Jules...

Re: Bluesynths developer needs synth community help...

I think this is a cool idea. I dont really like Yahoo user groups tbh. This looks like it could be better...

It would also be an idea to post this in Gearslutz for studio gear and the Electronic Music area of Gearslutz....

Re: Your favorite Highpass Filter

I think the SEM HP sounds pretty good in the demos...thats one I may be getting my mitts on....the only analogue HP I have right now is the Akai MFC42 which is pretty average in terms of character. In digital format I think the U-He Runciter filter plugin (part of UHBIK bundle) is the smoothest Ive ...

Re: SHIOITOR

raiven: I don't really follow your arguments, the dictionary quotes seem to counter what you are trying to say. Many people here have experience, are professionals and have compared software emulations with their real counterparts. Regardless of how successful we think the emulations are, the two t...

Re: SHIOITOR

this aways happens. The build up of an analogue emulating plugin. Then it never sounds quite like the hardware-usually too clean and precise and not containing the musical non-linearities or presence of real analogue. Although it sounds 'close enough' for many. For me - its the small difference that...

Re: Adjusting and calibrating the OB-8 envelopes

thanks for the replies. yeah I agree but I would consider asking a tech to do the HPF mod. Not myself tho. I have to agree that the noise function is a little useless with no mix level... I use my OB-8 with an Akai MFC42 to give it multimode filter capabilities. A slightly boring filter but well spe...

Adjusting and calibrating the OB-8 envelopes

I understand its possible to adjust the OB-8 env to make them faster - which would make it much nicer to play: http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Oberheim/OB-8/mods/oberheim.OB-8.snappy.envelopes.txt http://www.electrongate.com/obfiles/ob8_cal.pdf I have the calibration manual - and it advi...

Re: Noob question about brass patches/oberheim/80sfunk

funny I was looking for some advice on similar type sounds - as Ive just taken delivery of an OB-8... Yesterday I got some good results by layering 2 detuned saw patches (double mode) and on one of the patches using a small amount of the OB-8 page 2 portamento parameter (gives a rising envelope to a...

Re: OB-8 a few operating questions...manual vs my findings...

I don't want to lie, so I will only say I think I got it working once, following the steps in the manual. I recall trying it at one point. But the manual is a bit hard to understand even though it is written out in plain English... I agree - there are some parts of the manual that are difficult to ...
