Re: Cheaper alternative for Monomachine / Spectralis

I'd really try and save for a 2nd hand mk1 Monomachine.

Coupled with a Kaoss3 you won't get anything as immediate an inspiring to use especially for experimental IDM sounds

Re: Recession, what recession?

Odd time for buying as either prices are going up with the rising euro and falling £/$ resulting in folk wanting to invest in something stable or on the other hand people are desperate for cash and are often looking for a quick sale so there are some bargains to be had too.

Re: Your Favorite Arpeggiator In A Synth?

The Monomachneie has the best monophonic arpeggiator I've come across as its almost like a sequencer in itself and cam be tweaked on the fly. Put with the force to scale, part transpose and track shuffle it gets quite crazy.

I liked the one on the Prophecy too.

Re: Synths w/ Step Sequencers

Memorymoog
Oberhiem 2/4 voice (optional)
Pro1
Waldorf Q
Micron
Polymorph
JX3P (I think)

Didn't a Yamaha analogue poly have a basic step sequencer?

Good point, I know some people couldn't get it to work with XP although running the programmer in Win98 mode worked fine for me.

Why are Nord Modular G1's and Micro Mods gone up in value?

I kinda miss my G1 rack, I sold it earlier this year for £280ish and bought it of an ebay 0 feedback newbie 5 months earlier for £250. I've just seen a Micro Modular go for £230, I've also seen a rack go for £375+ and an expanded keyboard a few months back for almost £500!!!! :o 12 months ago you co...

Re: Spectralis II

I really wanted a Spectralis but I got my Elektrons instead. Its a real shame Jorg hasn't improved the UI or at least given the new machine a decent sized LCD like a Blofeld or Elektron as the potential of this machine. Hardware should be at least more immediate than software in this day and age. Sa...

Re: monomachine vs. tr909 vs. tr808 vs. drumstation

The Quasimidi 309 worked amazingly well with my Monomachines external MIDI sequencer as the 309 will do instant program and parameter changes (like waveforms) with parameter locks from the four MIDI CC's on each MnM track. You can also run the 309's sequencer (with no playback data) along side the M...
