Re: Teenage Engineering OP-1 Synthesizer

Ok I've been through a lot of youtube vids about this thing and although I'll give the solid none aliasing sound more credit that it deserves the tape sequencer (or loop sampler) isn't anything you cant do on a Kaoss Pad 3 and the machine as a whole doesn't come close to a realtime workflow of a mon...

Re: Teenage Engineering OP-1 Synthesizer

i stand corrected, the G2 is easily on par with the MnM specially when you get a touch screen involved

anyhowz what does the OP-1's sequencer bring to the table to rival these beasties?

Re: Teenage Engineering OP-1 Synthesizer

the monomachine is the most innovative synth/sequencer design of the past decade please explain or show me an example of why this op-1 is soooo.good because to me it looks more like an overhyped concept gimmic especially at that price from where i'm standing and i've heard from those who've seen in ...

Re: Teenage Engineering OP-1 Synthesizer

a gimmic for the iPad crowd with disposal income and no real talent

its a sad fact that materialism and hype are the only clever things involved with this toy or that maybe some are seeing it as some kind of investment if the company flops

Sherman 2 problems, anyone own one?

I've had my Sherman 2 a little while but not given it the attention it deserves however I've always noticed a little interference of some sort at around '7' on filter 1 and the LFO depth never quite seems to totally cut off the modulation in the centre position. :x Both are these little niggles aren...

Re: Nord Lead/NL2/NM vs NL3/G2 vs NL2X

In the case of all the Clavia synths, the difference in sound is down to the algorithms present in a given machine. The D/A has little to do with it. cheers, Ian yeah the sound design it totally different however I think you get an increased dynamic range with the 2X over the NL2 Yep, but even so, ...

Re: Analogue Solutions Vostok mk-1

You might want to read up on the MkI vs. MkII. The SoundOnSound review suggests some bugginess. Analogue Solutions is constantly tweaking units so this particular MkI may or may not exhibit these. The price compared to a brand new one is fantastic. I own a Vostok Mk1 and the SOS's review is a littl...

Re: Alesis Ion: my thoughts

Had an Ion, Pro's 2nd best UI ever after a NL3 best analogue sounding VA filters on a hardware synth I've come across although not as grungy as the Quasimidi stuff the tube saturation is great for added filth and the way it treats each voice separately means no polyphonic mess NRPN's ensure so shitt...

Nord Lead/NL2/NM vs NL3/G2 vs NL2X

the first NL has a classic dirty VA sound due to its older AD converters, the NL2 had better AD converters and along with the G1 Modular is considered the definitive Nord sound the NL3 was apparently a complete redesigned sound engine (different design team i've read somewhere) that aimed for a clea...

Also neither one has a better sound, that is entirely subjective

have you actually compared both side by side?

Re: Blofeld Keyboard vs Nord Lead 2x

the NL2X has a fuller warmer sound thats easy to work with and the UI is simple but immdiate the Blofeld is better on paper but the UI isn't much fun imho and if you want somthing deep to program then the Nord Modulars are king in this department. the Waldorf sound it certainly up there wih the best...

Re: Hardware sequencer

the Monomachine is the most fluid hardware sequencer/arpeggiator I've used
the Future Reto Revolution/Orb is good for analogue gear
the P3 is nice but not as easy to get into as one would think
the G2 Nord with a touch screen is a potential ultimate step/pattern sequencer ever
