Re: Got about 2K$ to spend? DnB, Dubstep & Illbient Downtemp

for a noob I'd recommend a MPC1000/2500 with the JJOSXL upgrade as a master workstation with something like a Nord Lead or Monomachine and a Kaoss Pad 3

however right now I'm I'm thinking the Radikal Spectralis could possible the ultimate live dubstep machine but its not for the novice

best digital drum synth engine?

Nord Lead 2
Machinedrum
Waldorf Attack

?

I know the MD is a better all in one box but I'm interested in the depth of the individual sound engine and sound quality

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?

Monomachine
Soundcraft compact 4 mixer
Kaoss pad 3
Aki MPC1000 (JJOS2XL)

you could also swap the mono for a G2 engine, CME bitstream and Itronix Gobook touch screen laptop

feeding the inputs and outputs (both audio and midi) from the MPC and G2 is a killer combo

Re: Your thoughts about rompler synthesis

in my experience ROMpler always sound like ROMplers and even if they have a massive plethora of parameters most of them are useless for anything but subtle filter and envelope edits or turning the sound into complete shite however all is not lost if they at least have a decent filter and properly sc...

Anyone sold thier Arturia sofware/licence?

Thinking of putting my Moog ModularV on the bay, I have an account plus and unregistered upgrade to the new v2.5, great synth I just don't use VST's that much any more. :| Do I simply delete my account and licences so the next owner puts in the serial code and starts their own account or isn't it as...

MC-202 mods?

I've found the excellent Cykong mods but a little wile ago I came across a site on how to mod the LFO to audio rate speed and add filter overdrive as well as additional filter modulation but I can't seem to find it again?

Anyone know what I'm talking about please? :)

Re: Real analog or VA?

Autechre don't require the virtues of real analogue to do what they do.

AFX's music wouldn't sound as good done on VA's.

Horses for courses just don't expect one to be a replacement for the other or there would only be one Highlander.

Re: Which synth for 'prog rock' analog sounds?

AN1X very nice keyboard action if your a player as such, also has a decent multi FX

Ion - nice US sounding analogue VA, keys are a bit tacky still very usable

Re: DSI Prophet 8

just had my 08 against my mates Memorymoog and Xpander VCO's The MM has a slightly brighter upper mid but the 08 is a close 2nd with 'slop' on max the Xpander sounds duller than the 08 although very similar. Filter the 08 has a much better higher frequency response and a more controlled/calibrated r...

Re: DSI Prophet 8

the tetras interface is near usless in multi mode and for a couple of hundred quid more you can get a nice used 08 module with loads of knobs

FAO Sherman filter owners

Has anyone modded or hacked away of bypassing the overdrive stage? Don't get me wrong it sounds ace but it's alway on even at low volumes and would be nice like to switch it off for more regular sounds especially synth tones. Anyone had a peek under the hood, done some modding or got a good workarou...
