Boss DR-202: any thoughts on it (especially the synth/bass)?

hope this topic is okay in General, as i'm most concerned with the few bass and synth sounds included in the DR-202, though i'm open to hearing anyone's thoughts about it (hopefully from people who have owned it). further still, the filter sections on the 202 also seems to lend it a synth-y vibe, vs...

Re: Has anyone tried tilting back the USS-Apache type stands?

just using the two pictures as a guide, can't you just adjust the horizontal bars on the stand and slide everything up several inches, to get the DX7 out of the way? also, most of the "arms" on those types of stands (both of the two i own, as well) allow you to install them "deeper", or farther back...

what?! sure, they don't sound identical, but to say a Revo sounds nothing like a 303 is ridiculous. they sound quite similar.

Re: What was the worst synthesizer you've ever owned?

about the only thing i have really hated over the years is the Roland D2, because it was so completely impossible to use. looked cool, though. the MC-307 i had was equally bewildering, but it had some good sounds, i suppose. neither is a standalone synth per se, but those are the only two that reall...

Re: midi thru chain

i just got this wonderful device: http://www.killedaway.com/images/3x8.jpg (i believe it's discontinued, but there are similar products still on the market.) it's one of those rare items that, once you own it, you wonder, quite literally, how you ever got along without one! i'm using two of the inpu...

Re: Getting First Synth - Is the JX-10 worth it?

Does anybody knows how it compares to the Gary Numan sound? He basically recommended the JX-10 without the PG-800 controller for $350AUD and the Roland Alpha Juno 2 for $400 AUD. What would be the better choice between the two (I'm assuming the Juno 2 doesn't come with the controller either). if yo...

Re: Is there such a beast?

Christopher, did you ever find a suitable sampler? i'm curious what you plan to use it for: one-shot drums (ie: "make your own drum machine"), multisampling/synth/keys, random vocal snippets/FX? all of the above?

what style are you working in? and if you found something, what did you choose?

Re: RM1x alternative for live performance?

i just got an MPC500 and it seems like it'll do everything you want. Had any problems with bugs or crashes? The 500 is notoriously buggy, or so I've heard. not a single one. maybe i'm not taxing it as hard as some folks, but it's been smooth sailing so far. i'm still on the original F/W as well, 1....

Re: RM1x alternative for live performance?

i just got an MPC500 and it seems like it'll do everything you want. the only thing i'm not sure on is the foot switch -- it'd have to be a MIDI foot switch as the 500 doesn't have a 1/4" jack for this purpose. i've only had one for a few days and i'm really impressed with how quickly and easily i c...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

i just got these two yesterday: http://www.killedaway.com/images/mpc500sp202.jpg the MPC was $200. i felt kind of sorry for the guy i bought it from. he said he wanted to learn it, but just couldn't make heads or tails of it, and it'd been sitting around for months with no use. other than the fact t...

Re: MC-303

some people get on with the MC303 alright, but myself, i found it far too difficult to use, and very tedious to navigate. the Electribe boxes offer a similar sonic vibe, but with a very simple and inspiring interface. the EA-1 would make a good, simple sequencer for your BassStation.
