What Ion plugin? There is no plugin version of the Alesis Ion??
I believe this

that doesn't produce any sound of its own. it's just a software control surface for the Micron.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?

i have the MDR-7506 and the HD280. they're both very similar, sound-wise, but i find the Sony pair to be much more comfortable for long listening periods.

Re: Korg Poly-800 power supply?

okay, found it for ya (do i have time on my hands or what?). the exact specs of the original power adapter are: 9VDC, 300mA, center negative. found it in the Poly 800 Yahoo! group. you can go over in amperage safely, but i would stick to a true 9V adapter, vs. those "universal" adapters, which are u...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

Last weekend my friend picked up a Moog MG-1 for $10 at a garage sale. Yesterday I bought it from him for $100. It looks pretty beat, but everything works! I think both of us got a good deal. very nice score! i've never even seen a Moog in person, besides the LP and Voyager. i'd love to play with o...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

got the DR-550 for $15; the EA-1 for $60; both locally within the last week. owning the original EA-1 again is like running into a long lost friend! love that Decimator Mod. Cats are still pretty cheap these days too  i ended up taking more pictures of her in the way than i did without. she ju...

Re: sh-101 dead keys

if you can, while the synth is powered on (and using care, obviously), try jumping the contact points without the use of the rubber pads, or use the pads from the keys you know are still working. if the notes sound, your pads have just lost conductivity, and this can be remedied. (sorry if this isn'...

Re: Rate my 303 emulation

honestly, it's only vaguely reminiscent of a 303 for me, and really, only the slide/portamento at that. however, i really liked that track a lot. sounds great! i like that lead running alongside it toward the end (before the bit reduction comes in).

by the way, this belongs in "The Listening Lounge".

no. you'd have a synth that was in-tune, but repaired properly and by someone with a modicum of responsibility and common sense.

Re: Acidlab Miami

I would like to see someone do this with a jomox: other than not sounding identical to a 909, what about that video couldn't be done on a Jomox machine? when it comes to these classic drum machines (and synths for sure) -- and nadafarms, i'm not really talking to you specifically, just in general -...

Re: Do Audio Demos Affect Your Purchases?

an intuitive user interface is more important to me than sound, and i can usually get interesting sounds out of almost any synth. most demos actually steer me away from a given piece of gear rather than make me want it. there are very few things i would buy without hands on interaction first. i agr...
