Re: Found a cheap jupiter 4 (3 voices working)

May I ask, do you have a JP-4 or do you do circuit board repair? no, but i bet if i did, business would be pretty lucrative if people followed that guy's advice. i don't have to be a JP4 owner nor a repair professional to know that dropping fragile electronic components from any height is a bad ide...

you have to be joking. that is single-handedly the worst bit of advice i have ever heard.

as long as you stick an FX box after it, i think it can do some really surprising stuff. even a nice distortion can add some punch and "crack" to its beyond-anemic snares.

EMX-1 and SFX-60 for me. those are my steak and potatoes, with every other little sequencer joining in here and there (ESX, EM, EA, ER, Revolution, DX200).

You seem to think that there's a direct correlation between price, realism and sound quality in all outboard effects, and that's just not the case. i don't, but i see that my comments made it appear that way. when i say "i could spend more" i don't mean on any specific effects unit within a particu...

Re: deep-breath-chest kicks & basses. How to?

whatever kick they used, there is a pile of compresssion on it, to give it that really pronounced click at the beginning. i think a lot of the body is due to high compression as well. in any event, this sort of thread belongs in Sound Production, not General Synthesizers, since it's mostly referring...

Re: I just bought a NL2x. I'm sooooo disappointed...

i think a lot of musicians get caught up in the elitist outboard trap Thing is, a good sound can get really really great with a high-quality reverb behind it; just a chorus and reverb turn a DX7 or Microwave into something absolutely magical. A 1998 Virtualizer doesn't - it makes 'm sound worse. Th...

Good for you Ry-Fi, I'm glad you put so much trust in others because of Youtube. My comments were about the original "jexus" post. Looking at his website only makes my point more solid. A massive collection of gear but not a mention of any professional level monitors or sound treatment in his studi...
