Re: Korg Electribe SX delays out of sync with Midi Clock?

yeah, i've slaved my ESX to tons of other hardware and it's always been rock-solid. must be the PC factor.

Re: Waldorf Blofeld KEYBOARD - w Samples ?!?

surely if your controller has a midi thru then it dosn't matter. I still chain it up with another 3-4 synths that way. blofeld won't really need a thru unless you have other reasons? i'm not talking about a specific situation, but more and more hardware seems to be rolling out without Thru these da...

bad buttons on your Electribe (or similar?) read on...

i've had my EMX-1 since launch, and just within the last year, a handful of buttons were giving me some trouble, especially Mute and Solo. i began having to apply more and more pressure to get them to respond, which is, of course, not a good thing at all. directly beneath the buttons is the fragile ...

Re: Doepfer MS-404 and MAM SQ16

many thanks for the reply. the LFO switch makes much more sense now. from the looks of things that SQ16 seems like it's got the potential to really turn things upside down if you can master it. have fun!

Re: Doepfer MS-404 and MAM SQ16

thanks for the mini-review/overview, CC. the sequencing on that SQ16 sounds like a pain in the neck! i just read thru Sound On Sound's review, as well as a good portion of the manual... sheesh. so many bewildering steps just to lay down some basic stuff. on the up side, the Rotate feature looks pret...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld KEYBOARD - w Samples ?!?

what is the story with keyboards and modules omitting a MIDI Thru port? someone educate me: is it really that much more expensive or difficult to implement? i can't be the only one who despises soft-thru.

Re: New Future Retro product coming.

that's odd; they don't match, color-wise. also odd that they're only MIDI'd in that pic. does the XS interpret FR's glide over MIDI correctly? seems like you'd want to show it CV'd up.

Re: Korg MS2000 - a classic in the making?

the EA-1 and EA-1mkII contain identical sound engines/dsp/whatever. the only sonic difference in the two is the swap from Decimator to Cross Mod in the Osc Mod section. Here's a quote from Korg's website: "The ELECTRIBE·A and ELECTRIBE·A mkII contains two of the analog modeling tone generators made...

Re: Korg MS2000 - a classic in the making?

the distortion is alright on the ms2000, not very good but it can beef up something if you want it to. because im to poor and lazy to get a proper 303 or 303 clone all my acid is currently on the ms2k and the distortions makes it sound a fair bit bigger. cant ask for much, considering i only paid $...

Re: Korg MS2000 - a classic in the making?

What should I expect from an MS2000 that the NL2 doesn't already do? I keep hearing "lo-fi"-that certainly appeals to me-but aside from that, would I be floored with this VA when I never use the one I have? 4 note poly is a major turn off (says the man who really wants a Jupiter 4 or CS-50!) the Mo...

Re: New Future Retro product coming.

Yes, but making drum sounds on a monophonic synth requires a sampler for use... not the same as a nice analog drum machine. exactly right. for example, i want to tweak the BD and SN in real time, seeing how they play against each other. having to sample off each hit kills that style of programming.
