Triadex "The Muse" score!

Hello, everyone. Haven't posted here in years (last posted about an ARP Solus which seemed dead, but has recently been resurrected by a friend of mine). Anyway, I attended today's "Flea at MIT" in Cambridge, MA, near the famed university. Saw all sorts of computers, audio gear, test equipment, etc. ...

Well, so much for that idea... Finally tracked down the VCA slider in the low-quality service manual scan I have. Guess what? The wiper is supposed to be tied to one side of the slider! #-o Looks like I'm going back to the drawing board. 'Course, this means that the slider (probably) isn't busted, a...

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far. I took another measurement, this time with the VCA slider at the halfway setting. This is what I got, using the same nomenclature as above: A to B: 0 ohms (at most, maybe 2 or 3 ohms) A to C: 111.4K ohms B to C: 111.4K ohms Readings don't seem to change when ...

What's the best way to test an ARP slider? I attempted to test one of them (the VCA slider) while in-circuit, using a DMM with a continuity tester. The pins are arranged as follows: C BB B A With the slider all the way down, I got the following readings: A to B: 0 ohms A to C: 766K ohms B to C: 766K...

OK, got another MP3: http://www.electronixandmore.com/adam/temp/solus_squeals2.mp3 This time, with the FM slider cranked, I decided to see what it'd do when I changed the Transpose switch to one octave down. With the ADSR trigger switch set to Auto, the squeals seemed to go hyperactive. Nearly every...

An update: I have recorded MP3s of the unit in action. Note that some of these may be rather large. MP3 #1: http://www.electronixandmore.com/adam/temp/solus_sustain.mp3 This is a recording of a simple test of the unit, from turn-on onwards. Did a sweep of the notes, with the last one sustaining infi...

The Not-So-Silent Solus

Hello everyone. You may remember me posting about an issue with my then-seemingly-silent ARP Solus about a year back. Well, I recently decided to take another look at it, to see where I'd have to start. I connected one of it's outputs to a mic mixer, plugged headphones into the monitor of said mixer...

Silent ARP Solus

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie to analog gear, having mainly used cheap Casios and such. Recently picked up an ARP Solus. Unfortunately, I have yet to get it to emit a peep. The panel had been unbuttoned when I got it, so I assume that someone tried to fix it sometime in the past. What could cause one...
