Re: Does anyone know what these synths/MIDI controllers are?

Top one is definitely a Radium 49, although I never seen a red one before. He probably painted it. Interesting. http://www.computersandmusic.com/product1.aspx?SID=1&Product_ID=205 Dont forget about the stage lighting my babies! At the beginning of the video the lights turn from purple to red on the...

Re: Vocal effects/pitch correction etc

Have you considered TC Helicon or Antares products? There's some great demonstration video on the TC Helicon site. I especially like the "Classic Third" demo. There's something about the song I really like.

Re: Whats your studio workhorse?

My studio workhorse is a USA made Fender Strat, Guild s300d and an Ovasion Limited Addition Acoustic. You see, I'm a guitar player who also plays keys (well "plays" is a loosely chosen word... more like "hacks on").

Re: Great Kraftwerk video - Autobahn

Strange, Autobahn was said to be the first song to use a vocoder followed by "The Raven" by Alan Parsons. But I saw no use of the vocoder in the video... hmmmm?

Re: Your Favorite Arpeggiator In A Synth?

The E-Mu modules based around the Proteus 2500 (XL-7, MP-7, etc.) have pretty amazing arpeggiators. The V-Synth programmable one is pretty awesome too, almost more like a little loop sequencer than an arp. Isn't a programmable arpeggiator also called a "sequencer"??? What's the difference? An arpeg...

Re: What make the bits?

It is possible to feed 16 bit samples into a 24 bit DAC without loosing information. However, feeding 24 bit samples into a 16 bit DAC would loose information. My guess though, the samples would be recorded at the bit level of the hardware. Also, it would be safe to say that the playback would be th...

Re: korg ms-2000 (limited edition???)

My guess is that is just "bling". Korg never released a "limited addition" MS2K in the early "blue" version to my knowledge. I've been a member of the this and the yahoo MS2K forum since it's release and I've seen no mention of a limited addition. As for the video, that's a member of this forum. He ...

Did you check the voltage with the power on or off? I still think it's time to replace the battery!

Re: Synth recording problems..

Have you tried turning the gain of your mixer down and the volume of the synth up? This will increase the S/N ratio and reduce unwanted noise.

Re: Heart - Magic Man synthesizer solo

I saw the original Heart band (mid 70's) twice and they had two Minimoogs on stage for those leads both shows ( I just aged myself  ). I'm sure they used the same in the studio. Funny though, the lead was played by some girl not listed as a band member. I saw a Soundstage show of Heart ...

Re: New Moog???

... And I'll say it... Neil Diamond did some damned fine pop songs. Nothing wrong with pop. I 100% agree. My comments were not to disrespect Neil Diamond's talents. He's the ultimate performer. It was in surprise that a band was able to get on a national TV show doing a cover exactly like the origi...
