Re: Korg MS2000 vs Analog options

If you are looking for a "true analog" sound, the MS2K is NOT the synth. The MS2k has a very harsh sound. Real analog synths are warmer and have more dynamic range. That's not to say the MS2K is bad. It's just different than real analog synths. I also like the MS2k. That's why I own two (plus the ad...

Re: $100 to waste on audio toy

I wasn't sure what this "Thingamagoop" thing was. So, well, a YouTube video demonstrated the Thingamagoop and after watching it, I just don't get it. $100.00 for a chirp box the changes sounds based on a some knobs and light? It would amuse me for about 15 minutes. Then it would end up in a drawer n...

Re: Learning to program VST/VSTi's

Synthedit = LAME It's not what he's asking for. All you're doing with Synthedit is arranging already programmed tools in an order you decide. Creating a soft synth this way will result in all the synths sounding basically the same but with different skins. They will all use the same sound engine. To...

Re: Help with Korg MS2000B wont power up

...i got it fixed but its never been the same since. every time i turn it on i have to jiggle the plug around before the power will turn on.... If I had a piece of gear in to be fixed and I still had to jiggle the wire to turn it on, I would say they didn't fix it correctly and ask them to fix it o...

Re: Balanced / Unbalanced Cables

All inputs are balanced but also support unbalanced connections. I'm not sure I agree with the descriptions of these terms given in this context. I'm not sure how connecting an Unbalanced signal to a Balanced input would effect bass either. Not to say it won't. I would expect it to have no effect o...

Re: Korg MS2000 + microkorg....

i was always under the impression that that was what the midi thru munction was for on midi gear. granted i use mostly software besides a jx8p and ms2k. goes to show what i know ha. so if 2 hardware synths are chained to the same midi channel will the result just basically be the equal of a unison ...

Re: The Triton moss board questions

Remember too, the Z1 has more polyphony than the MOSS board. My Triton has a MOSS board and it sounds fantastic. It only has 6 voices though. I think the Z1 has 8 or 10 voices. You might find that limiting. I must say though, the price of these hae skyrocketed. I bought mine for $320.00 US two years...

Re: New track - featuring Sexor on analogs & violins...

...I would have liked a bit more variation in the rhythm track... I would agree with this. Overall very nice. Nice mix and overall sound. Curious if the "AHHHHHs" are real or synth. Nice touch. It still needs changes in the rhythm track. It gets a little monotonous after a while. Real nice job thou...

Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

lame perhaps but remember that the P'08 is NOT multi-timbral. It's an analog synth with a quazy "old school" design to cater to those who want a real analog sound. I don't know of any analog synths that can do what you ask. Maybe there is, but I've never heard of any.

Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

No. You can only assign one MIDI channel to the P'08. That would be cool though. Although if it was possible, you would only be able to assign two channels. One for layer "A" and one for layer "B". But as it stands now, only one.

Re: Dead Keys (Not Contacts)

Bad news here. Now keeping in mind that I haven't looked at it but if my math is correct, these notes are exactly 8 notes apart. As many synths are digital and the typical interface of external keys and buttons are passed to the CPU in blocks of 8 or 16. I can only deduce that you have a buffer or s...

Re: Analog Synths with Multitrack sequencers?

The long note idea will work per the manual. Another method would be to send a CC. Most software sequencers have a method to send control codes (CC) or manually created commands down the MIDI stream. You would create a CC stream that contains the NOTE ON command along with the NOTE LEVEL. I will loo...
