Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

The sequencer will only run while holding a key down. It doesn't "latch" and free run. I hadn't realized this before. Although I haven't tried it yet, if you send a "note on" command to the synth from a laptop without sending the note off command, according to the manual, the sequencer should free r...

Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

One thing I want to point out that I just found. There's another thread about the sequencer in the P'08. http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=43635 The sequencer is gated which means that you have to hold the key to get it to rum. However I think I found that sending a "NOTE ON" co...

Re: Analog Synths with Multitrack sequencers?

Very odd. I tried it and no go. I also went through all of the trigger settings and no go. This needs further investigation because I find this to be a design limitation. Maybe I can contact DSI and ask them if they will ever add this as a firm wear update. They are open to those types of suggestion...

Re: Analog Synths with Multitrack sequencers?

Does the Prophet '08 at least have a latch or hold function for the sequencer, to keep it going once you've hit a key to trigger it, or must you continue holding down a key to keep the sequencer running? I'll have to test it but there's a setting called "NO GATE" in the sequencer which I believe la...

Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

Actually, after looking at it, it looks like you can do what you described. Even in the "non split" mode (only one layer). Let me try to clarify.. It's still pretty complex... Illustration ========================================== Layer "A" Normal and split mode: 16 step sequencer 1 --> Destination...

Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

Are the oscillators hard routed to the left and right outputs like the evolver? The panning is voice level and not per oscillator level (two oscillators per voice). In Poly mode, the panning can be controlled by the modulation scheme but it is still voice level panning (i.e. play one note it comes ...

Re: Analog Synths with Multitrack sequencers?

Prophet '08 has one too!! Works similar to the Polyevolver (I'm pretty sure). They're designed by the same guy.

Re: And then there were two...

I have also heard something about different versions of the MP - I'd like to hear anything from anyone who can go into details? I remember this being brought up a while back. I think the only difference between the two versions is that one had digital noise source and the other had analogue noise s...

Awesome!!! May I ask what you paid for it??? Now, which one will be your favorite?

Also, I like the Radio Shack (Realistic) mixer in the background. I used to use one of those!!

Re: Prophet 08 (what do you think now?)

I've owned mine since September last year and it's still my "go to" synth for analog sounds. Funny though, by itself it's sounds are really good but not super great. But when I play it along with my two other analog synths... c**p it sounds good. It's tones comp;ement my other synths perfectly. My o...

Re: double bussing on mackie mixers

This is a Mackie 1604VLZ and if you look on the upper right of the photo, you can see that the 1st 8 channels have a direct out for sending to your recorder system. These outputs are pre-fader and EQ but post pre-amp. This way you don't use the subs which are post fader and EQ. http://www.mackie.com...

Re: double bussing on mackie mixers

What mixer do you have?

On my 1604VLZ I use to use the "direct out" from channels 1 through 8 into my ADAT and then from the ADAT back to the inserts of channels 9 through 16. Never did anything with the subs but use them as subs.

Yeah but you will spend over a grand keeping the damn things running (i.e. 106 which is a huge letdown IMHO).
