Re: Modular Midi Possibility

Buying a modular to trigger sequences on a computer is like buying a tank to swat a fly. Sure, you can do it, but it's impractical.

Re: Achieving "fame" for your synth work

Playing for ONLY 3-5 years to gain some fame? Wow, I should be a mega star by now, considering I've been doing it for 15 years.

151580525698 A month ago, one of these in better condition went for $500 USD, shipped. This bastard wants $1,200 USD and YOU PAY SHIPPING. Oh yeah, and that neat little pedal that helps control it? You have to pay extra for it. Go look for it on their "for sale" section. Go ahead, I'll wait for you...

Re: Live synth set up for a desperate beginner

So here's the real problem: Synths are an EXPENSIVE hobby. I've sunk about $6000 into my modular, $12,000 into other synths, $2,000 into drum machines, and probably $6000 into FX, not to mention PA, mics, recording equipment (mixer, interface, etc), stands, repairs over time, cables and cables and c...

Less likely to break down than Micron, better sound engine than xio.

If you will ever be using it with a computer, it has audio and MIDI connection over USB which none of the others you looked at except xio have.

Good luck.
Gotta agree with this one.

I often use my CP-251 as a sushi table. Does that count?

I hope you're dug out now.
No work = The perfect time to record. I also moved a 32MU modular and an MS20 in that blizzard. Those two had cases. Also, I like to live dangerously.

Tell me about it...I can't stand using anything Behringer these days. Mackie or A&H from here on out. To be fair, this was for a noise band, and the mixer had to be in on the act too

Moog CP-251 + Snow = ??

So, I just dropped my Moog CP-251 Control Processor in the snow, face down, no case. I know, I know, I should have had a case for it, I get it. Live and learn. Anyways, fell face down into a pile of snow, some snow managed to get into the jacks, so I kept it upside down, brought it in, and put the h...

Re: anyone done a battery only gear gig.

It was a Behringer mixer that I had hanging around that could run off mains or two 9v batteries (3 if you wanted phantom power). I gave it to a friend of mine so I can't tell you the model off the top of my head. I'll ask him next time I get ahold of him.

Re: anyone done a battery only gear gig.

Gig? I did a tour with only batteries.

Battery powered mixer, microKorg, Roland TR-505, Monotron Delay, a bunch of pedals, and a few Honey Tone amps.

Re: Edgar Froese 1944 - 2015

Aqua and Phaedra changed how I view electronic music, and the artists in the genre that I love are no doubt influenced by him. A sad loss, but an amazing legacy, and I'm glad he gave us the gifts he did.
