Re: Yamaha DX-21 reborn!

I recently acquired a CD full of a couple hundred sounds for this synth you didnt buy one of those vintage synth rescue kits did you ? I have a bit of an issue with that guy in particular.. but in general I do not support data mining and the reselling of otherwise free information to people. These ...

http://soyuz7.net/files/poly800/ here are the manual and wav file. the instructions are in the manual, but essentially connect a 1/8th cable from your line out to the "from tape" jack on the back of the 800. move the switch to "low". switch the "program write" switch to "enable", press the "load" bu...

it wont do much, but being a reverse keys, i dont know what that will do to the value.

the prices on poly 800s are fickle at best. modded or unmodded, i've found doesn't make a bit of difference. which is why I quit trying to restore, mod them and then sell them.

the 800s cpu acts really weird when the voltage gets wacky. the best thing to do is remove all the batteries, wait a while (a good hour or two), put them back in (use new ones) and reload the memory. the 800's are actually pretty tough. they are simple to figure out from an electronics perspective a...

Korg EX VS Poly 800 sound

Ive never owned an EX until I bought one from another forumite elsewhere. It sounded quite dry compared to all the polys Ive owned and repaired over the years... So I dug out my poly and using the same factory voices, I A/B'ed them and the poly sounds much more analog and raw compared to the EX. I a...

is the power adapter rated for the 800? change the batteries, and run it from them.. if it works, download the manual and wav file, then load the wav file via the manual. keep your volume low and then gradually increase it. it'll take a few tries to get it right. http://metro-sonus.com/files/ I real...

more the "RARE VINTAGE ANALOG MOOG KORG SYNTHESIZER" sense :D prices were up in the +$250 range for a while, but then reality set in, and they settled down again. t that's just .. stupid. I never understood why they'd go from 80$ to 250$ as you said. That's always baffled me. I personally don't thi...

I wouldnt call them unknown, just different and more likely forgotten. as for hype, i certainly don't detect any .. it's not a microkorg or keytar. they are no more difficult to program than an alpha juno and the CZ gets way more hype than the 800. programming them by turning intervals on and off, I...

korg poly 800

korg ddd1 / yamaha rx5 drum machine.

Nobody said ION? for the money and amount of filters I bet with some downloaded patches or careful programming there isn't much you can't do if you're not overly picky.. either that or an MS2000?

how much of a difference in sound is there between the ms2000 and radias? everyone tells me none, it's an upgraded ms2000, but every time I hear/play a microkorg or ms2000 I cant hep but feel there's a huge difference in the sound.

Well it makes sense though, it was a CS5 (the lower end of the specturm), and it wasn't that vintage in 1986. it was probably donted to the school by someone whose kid had it or something... It was very cool ... My interest in synths got going around age 4, they were the sound track to all the kids ...

I think I found it! http://www.zikinf.com/_gfx/matos/dyn/large/yamaha-cs5.jpg This best fits with my memory.. power switch on the right, slider with white increment marks on the left knobs up top.. as far as the blue tint, I've noticed in alot of pics the CS / MS synths have a blue tint, which I thi...
