screw the demos & get one plus a good editor. sounds fantastic once you get good at programming it.

Re: DSI - Poly Evolver PE Conversion

The knobs on the PEK are pretty crummy, so does this pretty much solve the unreliable knob issue? actually, DeOxit is solving the unreliable knob issue for the most part. they'll send you a little tube for free & have complete instructions on their website: http://davesmithinstruments.com/support/p...

Re: compact mixer for international travel?

oh- i didn't realize the new 1202 had that switch, the "power consumption" on the spec sheet makes no reference to it. from the manual: "The switch allows you to use the mixer in different countries and voltages, meet interesting people from other cultures, and entertain them with your unique blend ...

Re: Power Strips? Conditioners? What else do I need HELP

i've got a couple Furman power conditioners in my rack, you can't go wrong with them. i also split them among outlets. if you have a massive amount of stuff, you might need to split them into different circuits (it's not unusual to have all of the outlets in a room on a single circuit)... but unless...

compact mixer for international travel?

i'm doing a lot of international travel these days & want something along the lines of Mackie's 1202 compact mixer but that can handle a broad 110v-220v 50/60Hz input the way a lot of equipment can these days (laptops, for example). basically, i don't want to use a travel voltage converter because t...

sequential circuits pro one on the right (front). http://www.silentspring.net/pix/pro1.jpg i'm tempted to say the one on the left is an Eµ Emulator III but it's probably a generic controller/workstation since it's parked right in front of the computer. http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/emulator3.jpg

Re: Mini Model D prices in NA

it sounds like you've already answered your own question to a certain degree. i'd shoot for finding one for about $2500. the earliest ones are definitely the collectors items which i'd steer clear of- the later ones are generally more & more stable and most likely what was used in any recordings tha...

Re: What Vintage Synth Would You Like to See Back in Production?

yes, you can still buy every EMS product right now and new. even the mighty synthi 100 and vocoder... are they really doing that? last i heard it was *planned* to offer that stuff again using some leftover parts but they haven't gotten around to it. i'd like to see the PPG Wave 2.3 go back into pro...

Re: SY-77 vs DX-7IIFD

the SY77 costs the same or less than a DX7IIFD. i've used both extensively- particularly the DX7IIFD w/E; there is no reason you would want to go with the DX7 over the SY77 unless you are a collector or just want something that says DX7 on it. the SY77 can do everything several DX7s can do plus a wh...
