Not quite 6 months; but my Z4 just turned up a few days ago from the states and so far, so good. I've managed to seamlessly integrate it into my studio setup; the Ak.sys software works flawlessly (so far) whilst using Cubase SX as well, and yeah, pretty chuffed. This is my first "real" hardware samp...

Mackie Mixers - Some buying advice please?
Note; thread is split in two parts: Part 1 : Which mixer to buy? Part 2 : US Pricing? =============================================== Part 1 : Which mixer to buy? So I need a new mixer for both studio and live use; it really is time to get rid of my Behringer Eurorack MX 1604A  Basically; base...

Korg EA-1 : Kinda sounded ok, but too limited; plus the annoying technical issues with it made me sell it.. Korg ER-1 : c**p drum machine, not as bad as the TR-505 though... Actually brought a second one last year as part of a combi deal with a JP-8080 and ES-1. Posted it off to a friend for free, '...

btw; that sysex-switching-of effects sounds really cool! Think you could elaborate on this? :) Well, the basic concept (if I remember right) was that a lot of the effects in the RS7000 need to be changed via sysex (pp. 328-329 in the manual) So, my idea was, rather then having to reference the manu...

If your having trouble getting over the initial learning curve PM me, ... Thanks for the offer, most appreciated. However, I do feel pretty confident with the RS; I've had it quite a while; (I even built a rudimentary sysex tool * for fx changes via midi patterns a while back; should dig that out) ...

You might end at best $150 ahead. Maybe less. Ouch. From an Australian market perspective: Basic units that I've seen go on ebay Australia lately have been around $800 or so. (one on now with a $900 BIN); RM1x's sell at about $300. My RS7000 is mint, 64mb ram, AIEB2 expansion and flight cased; so I...

Downgrading from a Yamaha RS7000 to a RM1x. Opinions?
I'm thinking about selling my RS7000 and picking up an RM1x instead. I'm doing a bit of research into trying to find out what differences exist between the two units. (I've had the RS for a few years; gigged it with no problems; but have no real usage / knowledge of the RM1x) The main factors of why...

Akai Z Series Effects Board (EB4JS)
I've recently ordered an Akai Z4 sampler. I'm planning on buying the 8 Output (IB-48P) expansion board. I've also got the option on picking up the Multi Effects (EB4JS) expansion board as well as a bundle deal. The 8x Output seems like a definite purcahse for live use; but the effects board is quest...

Be kind of interesting to see what they do; and will it apply to an original MD or just a MD-UW? I've never been able to justify the $500 cost and turnaround time to get mine upgraded. So I think unless it is a funky software upgrade that will give me those 64 steps or whatever I think it won't stre...

From another forum; I guy I kinda know: [rumour and speculation] "i was going to buy one yesterday (a UW) and the dude said that he couldn't sell me one because the mark II's or whatever were being released in a couple of weeks (he said i'd get one in under four) and he wouldn't be able to sleep at ...

My understanding is that if I got, say, a Z8 with 512mb of ram; that means I can have up to 512mb of samples loaded into ram at any one point in time? So, can anyone give me a ballpark figure on how long would it take to load/transfer 512mb of samples from the hard drive into memory? 5 minutes? 30 m...
