Thread resurrection! With the news of the new Metric Halo 2D DSP upgrade and MIOConsole v5 and its per-channel circuit modeling, my decision for an audio interface for the new Mac is made! Metric Halo MobileI/O 2882+ 2D :D cheers, Ian I think you are going to love it. I'm very tempted to upgrade my...

Thanks for posting the wall-mount options! I think I may end up going this way, and the Standtastic wall-mount system looks like a great way to go that's clean and takes up minimal space. As killedaway said, I have plenty of wall!

Pang, thanks for the info. I can get it for an insanely cheap price with academic discount and it's actually only about $30 more than what an upgrade to Live 7 would cost me. I'm thinking that Logic is a better choice for me because I don't want to have to buy a bunch of softsynths and it looks a b...

I'm running it on both a MacBook C2D 2.16GHz w/2GB and a Mac Pro quad 2.66 w/2GB (need more memory in the Mac Pro!). Logic runs well enough on the MacBook and performance is not that much different than 7.2. For your purposes I think your machine will be fine. :) If you run out of steam, freeze is y...

All (or most) of the manuals can be downloaded from Roland. For some odd reason, it's not on the UK site, but it's here:

I like it a lot, and for $199 it's a no-brainer. I find it a bit more stable than 7.2 (though that was always pretty stable for me) and the cleaned-up interface is welcome. Delay Designer is very cool, and the things Apple added to the studio bundle such as QT Pro (unlocks automatically upon install...

MIDI is such a slow protocol and I don't think that having it connected to your computer via USB 1.1 or 2.0 will make any difference. As for the Emagic interfaces, I highly recommend them. You can daisy chain up to 8 boxes off of one USB connection and it will show up as a single 64 port MIDI interf...
