I used to use a VCR hooked up to the radio, so I could set the timer and not worry about the tape running out, and also for recording DJ sets. You can buy SCART leads that have RCA INs and OUTs (6 RCA plugs), but the more common one is the SCART adapter plug that lets you switch between IN or OUT (3...

The TB 303 is a good little synth, what people are really looking at is how much they sell for now, and of coarse the price does not reflect the quality of the TB 303 as a synth, the price only reflects the fact that there was only a small amount made and that EBay opened up a global market that too...

I have to agree with Mirt. The Juno 106 has MIDI so will work with a modern set up. The non MIDI machines will talk to each other no problem, but you really want to use MIDI. DIN sync to MIDI is what you will want for the TR 606 to keep tempo with your MIDI gear, and MIDI to CV is what you want for ...

What you want is a field recorder, you want to record the source material first then sample it, you could go pro (DAT, or data card), or use an I-pod or mini disk recorder, as for the mic it all depends on what you want to record, a good Shotgun microphone would do the trick for sounds of nature, an...

I think this will become like the black credit card, first a myth then a reality and I am sure that the wanting of a white SH-101 will cause a few SH-101s to pop up from time to time with a new paint job. What makes the white SH-101 believable is that Roland made them in different colors, my guess w...

I just had a go at making an Akai s2000 OS disk with DOS and it worked OK. What I did was I made a MS DOS boot floppy disk (if you are getting one from the net dont forget to virus scan it!) I then put the S2000v2 onto another floppy disk. I turned off my computer, and put the DOS boot disk into my ...

I thought I would try going from floppy drive to floppy drive through the Windows XP command prompt buy running s2000v2.exe from my usb FDD B, now I get an error from within XPs DOS window telling me that the floppy in drive A is no good. I think this is due to the fact that DOS still has to access ...

I seem to remember that you had to download the program from Akai's website and then run the program in DOS which wrote the disc image. I'm pretty sure just copying it onto a floppy shouldn't work, cause windows doesn't even recognise Akai format discs as being a valid format. What Stab Frenzy said...

The S2000 is realy just a striped down S3000, they are built on the same board as the S3000xl, but they have to be booted from floppy and have a small LCD (cheaper to fix but a pain to use) but basicly they sound exactly the same. The one thing that is more important than the LCD issue is the output...
