Korg DS-8 vs Yamaha DX-7
Interested in FM synths, I was wondering what your guy's take is on these two synths. Seems like DX-7 has more capability in producing a variety of sounds, with six envelope generators and more LFO options. Is the DX-7 simply a better FM synth? The one advantage the DS-8 seems to have is that patche...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
I was looking through craigslist again, and found a ESQ-1 in bad shape, but still worked for $40. But it was a 2 hour drive and by the time I called he had already sold it. Then I decided to go check out a local music store, and saw they had an Ensoniq EPS for $150. It's pretty neat, has some really...

Re: Roland JX-3P Volume pot..
Does it have the 'sound' you want? From some quick research, that price is okay for a JX-3P in need of minor work. Me, I'd probably just avoid 9 and 10 on the knobs for awhile. Look s like music stores want $400 for them.... Well, honestly it first caught my attention because of the price. I though...

Roland JX-3P Volume pot..
Ok, so I'm thinking about buying a Roland JX-3P however, it has a problem. When turning the volume knob it creates a static interference at high volume at around 9-10. However, there is no problem when the knob is left alone. Can this be easily fixed and if left alone can it lead to greater problems...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
Yeah, the seller isn't responding so I guess its time to move on. I've found a Korg DW-6000 for $140 and a Casio CZ-5000 for $300. Is the DW-6000 worth it? Also how does the DW-6000 compare to the ESQ-1? I would avoid the dw6000... lacks many of the "cool" features of the very good dw8000 which can...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
Im kind of bummed out now. I asked the seller if he could hold it for me till the weekend and he said he would but, after asking a couple more questions he hasn't responded to my e-mails in 4 days. Then I looked through craigslist and found another Ensoniq ESQ-1 being sold for $200, near the same ar...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
Yeah, I've searched for a lot of demos on the ESQ-1 seems to have a lot of cheesy 80 type sounds, some good, some bad, but I've seen some other demos that showed that it has a lot of potential. So, definitely going to go for it (unless I happen to find a better deal), thanks for all the replies and ...

Re: Alesis ION Question
I have the alesis micron and its my first and only synth, and I'd have to say at first I didn't like it (hoping to pick up an ESQ-1 soon though) But once you dig deep into the programming it has a lot of potential for some great sounds. However, you shouldn't have that problem with all those knobs i...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
This is good to know. Is the ESQ-1 a reliable synth? Or does it have a history of problems? And if there are any problems is it relatively easy to fix?OriginalJambo wrote:The Alesis ION (which the Micron's engine is derived from) sounds nothing like the ESQ-1 in my experience. At $100 it's a steal.

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
Right now I have an Alesis Micron, should I expect a big departure in sound when playing the Ensoniq ESQ-1? Hoping to have a more organic sound if that makes sense. I'm kind of worried about the polyphony though the ESQ-1 only has 8 polyphony correct?

Ensoniq ESQ-1 $100 jump on it?
Ok, so I've been wanting an analog synth, and missed out on a Roland JX-8P for $150. So I've been looking through some ads and I'm debating between a Kawai K4 for $150, Ensoniq TS-12 for $300 with stand (I can barely afford this) or the Ensoniq ESQ-1 for $100. The ESQ-1 is really attractive cause it...

Re: Ensoniq TS-12 vs Triton LE
Do you think you can provide some piano and string demos? Those are the most important factors between the two keyboards. Also maybe some other sounds that make the Ensoniq shine, thanks.

Re: Ensoniq TS-12 vs Triton LE
I've made a mistake on the pricing of the Ensoniq TS-12 with shipping its actually $500 so they are priced evenly. I've found out that the Ensoniq TS-12 is ridiculously heavy, think I read it weighed like 60 pounds. Doesn't sound too good for gigging. I was just worried that the Triton LE would soun...

Ensoniq TS-12 vs Triton LE
I'm having a tough time picking between these two workstations. I prefer the Ensoniq TS-12 but I'm worried it may break down on me, and if it does I'm not sure how difficult it is to repair. Is it a reliable synth? I could get the Ensoniq TS-12 for $400 or the Korg Triton LE for $500, what would you...
