I´ve managed to get some pretty ok 303´ish sounds from my sh-201 lately. The filter seems to have some crispyness when used in 12 DB modus. Also from the stuff I have the Micron with it´s 303 modelled filter sounds pretty good to me after some work with it.

+ 1. I have both the Nord Lead (1 in my case) and the Micron. The Nord is totally hands on, the Micron is all menu's and can be kind of a turnfoff programmingwise. The Nord Lead would IMO also be a good place to start learning synthesis.

Minimoog - DX7 - The early SH range from Roland. Oh, and does Fender Rhodes count? I love the look of the Mark 1's with their rounded tops :)

Sorry if anybody feel I'm changing subject here, that's not my intention but is there any known way to check the assembly date on the D-50's?
I know theres a neat way to check this on the JX-8P which involves pressing a few buttons while powering on etc.

I just got one of these the other day. I´m really happy with it, I didn´t really know what to expect form it as I had never tried one before. I think it´s got class and sounds really good. It must have been a sound-designers wet dream back when it first came out.

8)...this is all very useful and interesting, thanks for your input. Are there any known issues like with the 106´s voices gioing dead, or anything else to be on the lookout for?

Thoughts on the Alpha Juno?

I kind of miss my old Juno 106 but I now have a JX-8P. The Alpha Juno´s turn up real cheap every now and then. Are they descent machines worth checking out?

Korg Poly800 and then shortly after a Juno 106. Liked the sound of the Poly800 but didn't get around to program it much because of the user interface. The Juno 106 thought me the basics and I love it for that. It's still sad to admit I sold them both a few years ago :(

I had a Juno 106 that always sounded good. From what I have today I always get inspired by my JX-8P and I'm quite found of the Evolver's sound when I only run the analog osc's.

I just bought a JX8p off craigslist for $100,perfect condition guy said it has been sitting in his closet for the past 8 years, only thing that bug's me with this is it's the earlier model key action, which is quite a bit lighter than later one's,these are selling really cheap right now and i think ...

...the sp-404 is dead easy to use and it sounds great. it´s also highly portable. but if you are really serious about your drums and beats and at the same time looking for an alternative to a daw; go mpc, they are just top of the game.
