Re: Soulsby synthesizers Atmegatron vs. Cyclone Analogic TT-

I wouldnt really say they compare very well. It seems like the Atmegatron is just another one of those noise boxes we all keep seeing, that doesn't really do anything musical in a straightforward way. Although it has more 'range' than the TT-303 in a lot of ways I guess. But the TT-303 has a sequenc...

Re: Octatrack Conspiracy?

I imagine they aren't bothered which product you buy as long as you buy it really. Its probably just that they offer six (soon to be seven) machines and can't keep it up with the production during new product development. There have been periods in the past where they were sold out of all machines (...

Re: Anybody use IMPC for Ipad

Honestly, something like this could be a nice app, a simple, clean, drum sampling sequencing affair. I honestly think the only problem is Akai. They just don't inspire a lot of confidence as a company to put it short.

Re: Items from Kling Klang Studio on eBay?

Besides, I doubt they ever used drum machines. Probably just synthesized the sounds themselves. They definitely used drum machines. There's 808 and linn drum (maybe lm-1) littered all over electric cafe for example. However yeah I doubt they used some of stuff in the auctions, maybe even none of it...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

I would just like something original to give the product it's mark other than the scat (lol) button. I turned the scatter on in the store but actually felt a bit embarrassed trying that part out. Which is a bit silly I guess but it just reminded me of the first time an in store clerk demoed d-beam ...

Re: when eBay listings include VintageSynth reviews

I often assume the person selling doesn't really know much about the item. I think the majority of equipment on eBay is just being flipped for profit nowadays.

Re: Looking back: assessing the TR8 as A drum machine

I think as a drum machine its quite good. Being digital and lacking outputs etc, I would've liked to see access to deeper synth functions and parameters. I agree with griffin somewhat in that I think the step keys aren't very good, I would prefer a softer material, similar to the rubber used in the ...

Re: Akai S Series Modifications

As far as I'm aware the s950 with a floppy emulator will work exactly the same as a floppy in regards to file format etc. The s950 will still only read the appropriate format images etc

Re: MS20 Kit Video from SonicState

Yeah looks good, shame about the shoddy screen printing though, pretty poor quality control that they got made like that. :? It's weird, I don't think the Mini has had any such issues. Something must have went astray with just that one unit, that or it's the whole batch... That'd be a terrible sham...

Wouldn't sampling through the optical/digital ports pretty much remove the converter process..?

Re: Roland R8 vs TR-8

All above is excellent advice. With R8 you would require some rom cards to get the 808 sounds etc if thats what you want. Other than that, the R8 has more interfacing options, more outputs etc. The R8 was my first drum machine, and is still one of the best drum machines available in my opinion. I ha...

Re: Akai Analog Drum Machine

I honesty think it was just a mock up that made no sound. Either that or they are still revising the sound of the machine. In reality though, Akai don't seem like the most organised company nowadays. Hopefully this product will launch and have solid software etc, if there gonna do it right they shou...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

Finally had a play on one briefly today. It sounded good although there were some differences in pitch ranges I noticed in the 808 kit, compared to my old 808, since it had been serviced and calibrated etc. it would've been good to have the ability to alter deeper things like that. The only thing th...

Re: Where are the sampling drum machines?

Whenever I start thinking about what would be the perfect sampler it always comes back to just being an OT with a bigger interface, or an OT with an output per track running into a nice analogue desk. That thing really just kills it. This is exactly what I have thought to be honest. I think with th...
