Re: Help...Juno 106 going bad?

Take a picture of the battery holder/battery when you open it up. I'd like to see how good the repair job is. The battery simply could have come loose, or the battery is going bad (do you have a voltmeter? If you do, test the battery's voltage... a fresh lithium coin is typically around 3.3 volts). ...

Re: Clicking in sound with DX7 releasing key

Are you sure all the operators are off except operator 4? If you copy operator 4 to 1 and then mute 4 and unmute 1, do you still get the click? Play with the release time so you hear the sound fade out, you shouldn't hear a click then. Envelope times are "backwards" on the DX compared to other synth...

Re: juno 6 and juno 106

The Juno 106 has a readily accessible mono mode and portamento... A readily accessible, sounds like c**p, almost useless unison mode with no detuning. When used with portamento it sounds neat though. The 106 has its own sound, and sounds great, so do the 6/60. Some prefer one over the other. The 10...

Re: Juno 106 first eight keys not working

It could be as simple as a broken wire or connection between the keyboard and the main board. IIRC those old Rolands used bundled wire instead of ribbon cables, so spotting a broken wire might not be easy to do visually. Try checking the wires for continuity with a multimeter. Otherwise, check the a...

Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup

No one's mentioned the Yamaha DX100 yet?

During the summer I would take it out back poolside and noodle on it with headphones.

I used to do the same with a Microkorg but I sold that.

Re: All B keys play at max volume? why? fix?

A chip issue or (more likely) a loose connection somewhere. If the keyboard is matrixed in a 12xN matrix, where each "column" represents the octave and the "row" represents the note within the octave, a broken connection could affect an entire octave (if it's a column) or the same note across all oc...

Nice! I might have to check this puppy out. File/sample management on the Motif leaves much to be desired.

Re: Roland D-50

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, when I had one it had a really nice feeling keybed in it too. The aftertouch was cr@ppy but that's typical of older Rolands. The strip can be refurbished if aftertouch is important.

Re: Roland D-50

It's an awesome synth, probably my favorite digital synth ever. It has a distinctive sound and great presets that were heard in just about every song made from 1987-1991 or so. It can be a bit daunting to program, but there is software to make it easier and Roland made the PG-1000 programmer which m...

Re: How do you listen to your synth when programming?

I chose "through speakers only" since 9 times out of 10 that's what I do. Sometimes I'll switch to headphones to tweak the subtle things that are easy to miss on speakers, like fine tuning the mix between layers, panning and chorus effects, things like that. I'll also use headphones if the environme...

Re: Need your help to recreate bass patch...Please Help!

Sounds to me like oscillator sync was used, so it would have been the Odyssey. Take two oscillators, sync them, and tune the synced one up 2 or 3 octaves and see what you get. With some tweaking you should be able to get it.

Sounds like the bottom end of the sound was rolled off with an EQ as well.

Re: Look what I've found in my DX7...

Both are technically PM synths but it only comes into play when using the non-sine waveforms on the TX81Z.
