Re: Emu Emulator II Drives, Floppies & Sound Designer.
I have located an EII +HD for sale, but the current owner does not know much about it. It comes with one floppy (fretless basses, I am a bass player, so I really would need other sounds!), and he is unsure about the whether the Hard drive works or whether there are sounds on the hard drive. How woul...

Re: Emu Emulator II Drives, Floppies & Sound Designer.
I am looking at buying an E II+ HD. Besides Northstar, are there any other sources for samples? Are there any good Mellotron samples available?
Thanks,

Great Sound and looks! What are you using for a sequencer?

Re: Custom Prodyssey
Here's a link to a youtube video that someone did the same thing with their Minimax (minimoog clone), and then compared the sound to an actual mini: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI0-SrpzCis . IMHO, it makes more sense for the mini, as the original trades for prices well over $4,000, whereas the Od...

Re: good way to start modular?
Actually, after looking through the .com stuff, that would probably fit my initial bill the best, as it does offer a low cost option to start (power supply and rack frame for only $160, I already have two or thee empty rack cases around for mounting), inexpensive modules, and uses 1/4" jacks which m...

Re: good way to start modular?
I like the doepfer range as well for the module prices and number of modules offered. Their case prices are a little on the high side. I also haven't heard any glowing reviews of their oscillators or filters either, but I have my moog gear to handle those chores, I mainly need a VCA, Envelope Genera...

Re: Moogerfoogers...I have some questions about them.
The foogers that would make the most sense with the LP are the Phaser and Ring Mod. The others could be used, espeically the CP-251 to add another LFO or another source for Sample and Hold. If the LP ever gets a CV out for pitch, then the Freqbox could be used as a third oscillator and routed back t...

Re: good way to start modular?
Thanks for the pic of the MFB case. Shawn from AH sent me a link that has the same pic. He said that he did have one, but it was sold the same day that he received it, so he was not able to make an evaluation as to its sturdiness and value. He has more on order, and I plan on getting one when he get...

Re: good way to start modular?
also, something realy cool from mfb: you can get a midi/cv-interface in the eurorack format AND a power supply (without 5v) WITH 8 available doepfer style connections for 135$ you may also add a 3u rack case for 260$ (including the midi1cv, psu, connectors). http://www.analoguehaven.com/mfb/midicv/...

Re: good way to start modular?
I like the idea of the Kraftwerg, but there is one component of a "typical" setup that is missing: a sequencer. If this unit had at least just a simple 8 step sequencer, I would sell off my Moog gear and purchase the Kraftwerg. I know that MFB also sells the Step 64 MIDI/CV sequencer, but having it ...

Re: Big boutique brand market competition?
In a way it is competition, as most of us only have so much to spend on Gear. The MoPho looks like an exremely cool product and it may be my next purchase. If I purchase the MoPho, I would not be able to purchase a Moog CP-251, MP-201, or another MF-107, as they are all in the same general price ran...

Re: Analog Sequencers and the Ms-20
Most of the Analog step sequencers are not "quantized" (preset to put out notes only from the 12 tone scale) and do not care if the synth they are controlling has the Hz/Oct or V/Oct scaling, as the pots just put out a voltage. . Some fairly cheap options are the sequencer that is offered by the Cur...

Re: Floyd founder Wright dies at 65
"Animals" has always been my favourite Pink Floyd album (and I think that's pretty rare, most will say "The Piper...', "DSOTM", or WYWH), and even "Dogs" my favourite song (ex aequao with "Echoes" and "Shine On you Crazy Diamond")... Actually, I have always had the same opinion, that "Animals" was ...

Re: Floyd founder Wright dies at 65
I had just read this somewhere else on the web, but I should have known that it would have been posted here first. "Dark Side of the Moon" will always be a classic, but the synths on "Wish You Were Here" is what always had inspired me, as well as his Hammond and electric piano playing on "Animals". ...

Re: DSI MoPho
I love the sound videos, I love the idea of the synth, great price point, and it is amazing how DSI can instantly start shipping a product that only a month or two before was just vaporware! I will probably purchase this product, but the one thing that would have made it a home run and allow it to i...
