Re: Is This The D-50?
I just sold the JX-3P for $200. The guy who bought it was tickled pink. Now I just have to sell the Yamaha... I'm hoping to get $160 but I may have to back down on the price a bit. Another question. Should I geta D-50 on eBay? A few months ago I attempted to get an Ensoniq ESQ-1 on eBay and it arriv...

Re: Is This The D-50?
I heard a little digital noise in some samples, like the synth bass on very low notes. I don't mind this as long as its not a pronounced "hissss"

Re: Is This The D-50?
I wish I could keep the trio, but I'm a poor college student and I've already dumped waay too much money into my other hobby of digital SLR photography :P I've had my fun with the JX-3P. Here's a track I made using only it: http://www.zshare.net/audio/1873109962de4e51/ I feel that I need to advance ...

Re: Is This The D-50?
I've decided to put both my DX21 and JX-3P up for sale. I've been doing some more reading on the D-50 and it can do a pretty good job sounding both digital and analog so I suppose it would be superfluous to keep the JX-3P when I can get a good $200 for it.
Am I going to regret selling the JX?

Re: Is This The D-50?
I don't think I'll get a D-550 since I don't have a touch sensitive/aftertouch keyboard to hook to it (just the JX-3P ). As for the PG-1000, I've got along just fine tweaking my DX21 and JX-3P onboard and I don't need live control so I think I'll pass on that. Is there any way to tell the late...

Re: Is This The D-50?
The patch used in those songs wasn't Fantasia, it was "Staccato Heaven" and it sounds as rich in the sample as it does in the song so my worries are dispelled :) This synth may have the best presets of any synth out there! It will surely be a nice step up from my plasticky-sounding DX21. I'll keep t...

Re: Is This The D-50?
Probably so. I'm not sure if the patch samples on synthmania utilize any built-in effects (the D-50 has a couple and a rich chorus). What would be a good price for a clean D-50? Any known reliability issues I should be aware of?

Re: Is This The D-50?
That's what I thought at first, but "Fantasia" sounds a bit too "tinkly" and thin. The patch in the sample I uploaded seems more "airy" to me.

Is This The D-50?
Hi all. I currently have a Roland JX-3P and a Yamaha DX21. I'm thinking about selling the DX and getting a nicer, more complex-sounding synth like the Roland D-50. Its regarded as being one of the most warm and powerful digital synths out there. Apparently it was used heavily in late '80s Italo/Hi-N...

Nice Yamaha DX21 Demo
Hello again, it's been a while since I've posted here. I used an old SoundBlaster MIDI sound card I found in the garbage to control my DX21! I came up with this little demo to showcase the hidden power of this oft-overlooked FM synth. All the patches are self-programmed except for the xylosnare at t...
