Re: JVC/Lowrey home phatness

Well the cheese is the easy thing to find. Everything depends on context anyhow. Even the L2 has cool stuff that I wouldn't hesitate to use in a production. I just happen to also love cheese. No offense intended.

Re: JVC/Lowrey home phatness

I have the portable Lowery L2 Wandering Genie. A truly great cheese machine. I got mine for $50.00. It has 10 analog drum beats and some great combo organ sounds. One key bends whatever chord you are playing up a minor second, useful for Hawaiian cheese, I guess. There is also an auto-repeat mode th...

Re: Synthfool.com Preservation

I am going to today. Archive.org is great, of course. But, their archived versions of past websites don't seem to turn up in search engines, so a little useless if you don't alreay know about past sites with items of interest. The reality is that the most valuble info (IMO) that Kevin posted will co...

Synthfool.com Preservation

The late Kevin Lightner's website is slated to disappear as of March 2015. It sems to me the information there needs to be preserved somewhere on the web and maybe Vintage Synth can make that happen. What do you think?

Regards,

MM

Re: DV Maxikorg Tuning drifts across octaves

I will add that I think there is probably something failing in the synth if it takes that long to stabilize. While that is a common problem with many early synths, the Maxi is not usually afflicted that way. I think 5-10 minutes isn't probably a huge problem, but it does sound like there is an issue...

Re: DV Maxikorg Tuning drifts across octaves

I am sorry my memory failed me. If you look inside the Korg, there are a row of pots at the top of the two oscillator boards. There is one for trimming the tri wave, then offset, pitch hi, pitch low, then two for tuning the bender pitch hi and pitch low. it is the 2, 3, & 4 trims that will tune it f...

Re: Synth Horror Stories

Not a synth, but I left my Farfisa organ at a friends house for a few weeks and then picked it up and went to a gig. The organ didn't work. I opened it up and a family of mice had moved in and eaten through a number of wire harnesses. I had it back working the next night.
