Re: Yamaha CP-60/70/80 series (and a bit more)
Cp70 & 80s have short bass strings with very pronounced odd harmonics which sound very un piano like. The mids and treble sound closer to a piano, but have a much thinner sound. The thunkiness is mostly a result of truncated string length and these loud inharmonic partials. Peter Gabriel albums are ...

Re: furniture & stands
The Office Depot Aeron knock-off has held up well for me for several years now. It's less than half the price of the Aeron... Having owned both, IMO the Staple's (Office Depot) knockoff product is about a tenth of the chair for half the price. The Miller chair saved both my back and my wrists and i...

Re: Arturia Beat Step---$99 CV step sequencer!
I just checked and with a Kenton MIDI USB Host, the Beatstep with sync to external clock. So, for an additional $155 US, you can get MIDI in without need for a computer...still an extra box. The Kenton does power the Beatstep though the USB connector though.

A very old thread, but for those searching for the solution, this is a blown transistor at the stuck note position on the keyboard circuit.

Re: Arturia Origin Fail/Arturia Fail
i got an email today saying they are shipping me a new synth.
I really hope this is real, but I kind of have this little voice saying "your check is in the mail" ringing in the back of my head.

Found it...
To select the earlier filter, hold down the F#3, G#3 and A#3 keys and turn on the MS-20. • To select the later filter, hold down the F#3, G#3 and B3 keys and turn on the MS-20.

I'll have to look inside one, but couldn't one of those rubber standoff holes be used for a switch?

I've heard from a pretty good source that it will be 3/4 scale. Time will tell.

Re: BreakTweaker: Future Beat Machine
Its very easy to bring in your own sample content. I was doing something the other day with accordion samples that will not be showing up on any dancefloor. Very powerful package for all kinds of sample mangling either in the genres they are marketing to, or for others not working four on the floor.

Arturia Origin Fail/Arturia Fail
I also posted this on another synth forum, please excuse the redundancy if you already saw it. My Origin rack had a long time issue of not booting until the second power cycle, which seems to be a pretty common condition. In May 2013, it stopped booting at all and I started conversing with Arturia t...

Re: Yamaha VL1/VL7
I own a VL1 and a VL1-m. They are the most expressive synths I have ever played in my forty years of synthesis. I often hear the realism/expression debate when people speak of these instruments. I would agree that if you look at emulative sounds, there are now sample libraries like those from sample...
