Re: Juno 106... good or bad?
No one said anything about being a newbie... I've had tons of synths including the jx-3p with pg-200 (which sucked) and now I have two 106 junos. I'm more into writing songs after learning synthesis. By the way, why even bring up the Jx-3p? It has some more modulation possibilities and an extra osci...

Re: Juno 106... good or bad?
As about 99% of the arguments on here go, we all forget about the end result which is the music being made and why we choose particular instruments to get there. The Juno range is great if you are into writing songs. They are easy to program and always sound pleasant therefore they have proven to be...

Re: Juno 106... good or bad?
Yeah, don't use a piano because that sound is soooo played out and everyone and their grandmother (literally) used it
If you want another oscillator to detune against, just buy another 106

Re: Juno 106, Original or old chips?
Screw the clones if you can. The Aussie dollar is better than the US dollar right now I think so try and find out how much it would cost for the service. Or, you could sell those original chips and order the GOOD clones. modelessfactory.com might be able to find and service you a 106 without the mid...

Re: Juno 106, Original or old chips?
If you read the whole thing there really is no stupid question fee ;) And it's technically not the voice chips, it's the combo vcf/vca 80017a. You can always send your voice board to the synth spa on ebay. I think he charges $145 for rehab and calibration of everything using the original chips. Alan...

Re: Patch editor for BOSS VF-1 now available!
Just bought a VF-1.. I hope it's as good as people hail it to be. How do the quality of effects compare to the DP/4? I mainly bought it for the VT-1 algorithms for live use. The editor looks SICK! Can't wait to try it out tomorrow.

Re: Emax I/II Compatibility Issues
Do you have the Emax II OS on the floppy disk? You can manage your disks using EMXP. You know there are a lot of Emax I disks available for free here: http://www.hermannseib.com/english/synt ... floppy.htm

Re: Korg Polysix lost a voice
Yes, there is a calibration procedure for all analog sections. Google for the TSM or check the stickies on this forum for it. If you are lucky you can get away with just needing a multimeter.

That's the thread I was thinking of. Seemed a bit mixed but I find that it's all about the way the fx configed in the set up page yeilds best results, especiall the compressor.

Re: Elektron Octatrack!
I think the fx are pretty good. The filter really stood out as awesome coming from using the machinedrum, lots of options too. I like running single cycle waveforms from synths played back with the OT. Instant monosynth action. But about the fx... they said there will be more added in future updates...

Re: Juno 106?
The Synth Spa on ebay is an excellent way to have the chips serviced. I think he charges $145 for a total reconditioning of chips, which IMHO is a great price and guaranteed to work without having to deal with acetone and the possibility of messing your chips up. I have two Juno 106. On one the 8001...

Re: Elektron Octatrack!
Yeah, I know what you mean about the filter and lo-fi. BUT the filter in the OT is SO MUCH NICER than in the MD and the MM. Hugo, yes, you can have what you are asking and at much more complexity. Take a look at the manual at "neighbor machines." Like I suggested before, if you are doing bread and b...

Re: Elektron Octatrack!
You CAN have more than two fx on a track but you have to sacrifice another track and use a neighbor machine. If you get down with re-sampling effected audio you can push things a bit further and gain back lost tracks. Loving mine. I like using it as a single device for production most of the time, w...

Re: NOOB looking for analog synth
You want chords or mono synth lines? Because you are naming both types right now. If I were you I'd just get something cool like a CP70 Yamaha piano or a Wurlitzer electric piano. That would go with rock music and the song writing process greater than a synth imo. If you still want to go synth, I'd ...
