Re: Which was the first production duophonic synth?

If modular synthesizers count as production models, the ARP (Tonus) 2500 had several choices in multi voice keyboards. Here is a scan of the ARP 2500 series 3000 keyboards dated April 1, 1971. http://i60.tinypic.com/2a9y3cw.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/2dlt56e.jpg This would suggest the ARP Odyssey bo...

Re: Yamaha CS-80 cs80 how much do they go for today?

Why are they overpriced? Go on - give it your best shot as to what they're worth. :-) Let's see? I paid $4750 for mine back in 1979. That was a really good price, as street price back then was $5600. In today's $, allowing for inflation and devaluation of the $, cost me almost $16K for a new one. A...

Re: Monophonic preset synthesizers ???

Interesting subject really, as these original analog memory type monophonic synthesizers used different methods to make presets. The most recently produced synth today, with analog memory being the Buchla Music Easle with program cards that can be factory presets or user configured. Korg had a few m...

Re: Triadex Muse software sequencer & Future Retro Zillion

The Triadex Muse Simulator for Windows was one of the software versions. There was the original version 1.1 and a newer upgraded 1.2 version. I have used both versions many times and they sound interesting driving my Moog. Here are a few of the links: Original Muse owners manual scan Original Muse p...

Re: Archive.org synth manuals collection

In a similar spirit of free distribution of the hard to find, also check out these scans of Electronic Music Review: http://www.ubu.com/emr/periodicals.html Thanks for that link. Have never read the Electronic Music Review from the early Trumansburg, NY days. Had seen the covers on the Moog Archive...

Re: DSI speculation

Did someone see a Joystick? Perhaps a new VS or synth based on Vector Synthesis. That was one of Dave's specialities, recording the joystick movement between four sources. Endless possibilities with today,s digital electronics. Four quadrant looping enevlopes or quad modulation sources, morphing pat...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke

It's pretty obvious to me that some digital tricks were needed to make the Sub Phatty work...the ultra cool VCO beating trick perhaps being the best example. Isn't this the exact same thing as tuning one of the oscillators to have a slightly different intonation? That was the patch I described wher...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke

Do modern moogs use dcos? I thought they were completely analog. Are they like dsi/Juno 106 DCOs ? Or MS - 20 'digitally stabilised' VCOs? Can someone please explain to me the difference? You can drive moogs and the Ms 20 oscs with cv, but you can't drive a dsi or a Juno with it. They use an analog...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke

All VCOs I have also have a trimmer to set the intonation as well as the tune, it's just that after I set the intonation 3-4 years ago I haven't had to touch it since. Talking modular oscillators here. Adjusting the intonation response on a modular synthesizer is part of the fun. That same patch wi...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke

But in those three, one of which having been very professionally maintained, none of the 901s held pitch for very long at all, and none of them had scaling that stayed in pitch beyond two octaves. Several things going on there, one depends on the revision of 901 you are using. First, those 901's do...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke

This is a nice project done by some dedicated Moog modular enthusiasts. Namely Gene Stopp and Brian Kehew. Seems funded and backed by the new Moog Music, but a different crew working on these authentic Moog modules. Not the same technicians/engineers resonsible for the digital controlled analog Moog...

Re: BEST LIGHTS?? (Let's face it - lights is good?!)

The Sync 2 front panel is nothing but lights. There is a disc format program, when the Sync 2 boots up the panel lights all blink in a semi random pattern. http://i61.tinypic.com/2qbyip2.jpg Always like the 60's incandescent colored lighted switches on the old Moogs. Those vintage lights somehow see...

Re: I don't understand the demand for monosynths?

Didn't they stop making monosynths around the years 1985 thru 1995? Never really knew why, but they were considered by some as obsolete. The Korg Prophecy and Yamaha VL-1 were the first I can recall with the comeback of monosynths. Both with the ability to mimic monophonic horns. After living throug...
