Re: Moog DSC Digital Sequential Controller ?

Curious, what was the story behind the Sonproducer and the DSC? I know the software is a little buggy on that Songproducer Ver1.6. Nice combo with the CommodoreSX-64. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6s1hi/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/songprod1.jpg http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6s1hi/sitebuilde...

Re: V.Cheap But Good Old Synths....!?? (ie. < $150)

Hey, if we had this discussion 15 years ago, it would be Pro-1, Odyssey, Minimoog. (I was the crazy musician buying them, what was I thinking?) Still one of the best buys today includes a Casio CZ. I guess they made so many, they can be had for cheap. Can still score a CZ-1000 for around $100....

Re: Polaroids as Patch Sheets

Digital camera is the way to go. Secondhand they can be had for cheap. I picked up a Sony DSC-S85 4.1 megapixel for around $50.00. The resolution is high enough to see dust on closeups. No film to buy and the date is stored with the photo, to help aid when the patch was recorded. Just snap a few dif...

Re: Tom Oberheim to show new synth on Wednesday?

Just noticed that on Matrixsynth! $599.00 sounds very reasonable for a drop in SEM! Perhaps Tom will offer just the case too. I have a rack mounted SEM would look nice in that new enclosure. [-o< Nothing mentioned about MIDI chaining together to make a four-voice, although you could roll your own fo...

Re: Synclavier Additive/FM Architecture

Also, overall, what did you think of the Synclavier FM sound? -matia I have a 1983 16-mono voice FM here. It has a unique tone and a certain clarity with chord voicings. Perhaps because there is quite a bit of hardware making the sounds. Each of the 8 voices have 5 boards, one controller and 4 iden...

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

When you're playing, and someone accidentally trips over the extension cord/power strip, which one will boot up faster, a hardware synth or a computer? There is a time and place for plugins, but hardware synths > software synths. Haha yeah, have you actually used a computer live.. and was it a desk...
