Re: discrete polysynths
Moog Polymoog synthesizer and keyboard versions. Moog Voyager (Chain up to 16 voices) Any of the modular manufactures that offered real polyphonic solutions: Arp 2500 offered a 1045 voice module and the 3222 four voice keyboard. EMu had a polyphonic modular keyboard (used in some SCI and Oberhiem) R...

Re: What is the Oldest Piece of Gear in Your Studio?
Oldest working synthesizer with daily use, is a Moog 1P with a build date of Aug.11,1969, sitting in front of a tonewheel Hammond L-111 from 1965. Oldest digital synthesizer would be a 1982 Synclavier II. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6s1hi/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/moogsync.jpg Older se...

Re: Anyone regret getting Voyager Old School?
the OS is an full analogue synthesizer ,the LP and voyager digitally controlled analogues .... BIG DIFFERENCE. Well, that is not entirely true? The Voyager OS uses the same digitally scaned keyboard as the Voyager and probably the velocity CV is digital too. So if you are using the keyboard, you ar...

Re: What was the worst synthesizer you ever owned?
A Nightmare? That's easy...the Yamaha CS-80! I purchased one brand new in 1979. They cost more than 5 grand US in 1979 dollars, or about 15 grand in today's money. Anyhow I get it home from the authorized Yamaha dealer, and I notice one of the 16 oscillators is almost a semitone out of tune. I...

Re: OMEGA 8 sound quality in comparison to others?
Poly voyager sounds like it could be the closest thing...but i'm concerned if it is too ''phat'''to do smooth pads or strings...however.. what do you say? Also, I think you need the voyager keyboard to control the racks...is this correct, or can u use the racks to controll other racks w/ an externa...

Re: OMEGA 8 sound quality in comparison to others?
It would be pretty cool if Moog did make that poly synth like apoly Phatty) that was discussed a while back... But Moog makes the Voyager with the ability to add as many as 16 voices total, for some real vintage sounding polyphonic Moog sounds. I think it's the price that stops anyone from using a ...

Re: Scored a Prodigy!
Great synthesizer! A Mini-Minimoog. Synhouse, makers of the Midijack, have a "how to" page with the mods for the Prodigy here: Prodigy Mods My Prodigy was the version with the many in/out jacks, but I still modded mine with a few extras. As long as the mods you do look professional, it shouldn't dec...

Re: What is your live set up?
What is your guys' typical load-in / setup time? Some of you with very large rigs must need a lot of time to get everything wired up.. ? Takes a little more than an hour for me! Running around like a mad man, it's a labor of love. I usually get all the analog synthesizers powered up first so they h...

Re: Show Me the Difference Between a Moog and an ARP
A big difference many overlook is the way the various models play, regardless of the sound they produce. Much of the characteristics of these synthesizers come from the way they are controlled. The Odssey is a good example of this. With a three octave keyboard and a +,- two Oct. transpose you get a ...

Re: moog liberation without the module
So it is completely useless without the module, I suppose I think it's the other way around. The module is just the power supply and circuit to interface with other synthesizers.(S-trig out and pitch CV out). And the audio out jack. Study the schematic and it should be easy to make a suitable power...

Re: Favorite "dirty" synth?
Favorite dirty synthesizer has to be the Moog Modular. Just mix the 901's into the CP3 take the negative output feed it into another CP3 take that output back into the first CP3, put the filter in the loop, modulate the filter with a little noise....Well you get the idea! Actually my Moog 1P sat in ...

Re: Buying Broken Synths!
I think every synthesizer I have ever purchased that was not new, was a handyman special. The only way I could afford them really, plus I can always do a better job than any of these so called techs. Arp Odyssey for $350.00 had broken keys and sliders. A Minimoog for $350.00, didn't tune up with on ...
