Re: Roland should reissue the
The Roland modulars system 700 and 100M were probably the most flexible Rolands made. With the resurgence of the modular, would be cool to see a Roland modular again. They may have been the only Japanese modular manufacturer. The Korg PS-3300 was close with three voice modules. And Yamaha never got ...

Re: The obsession for the Analog
That's a Roland MKB-1000. It's an 88 wooden key. No aftretouch, very basic MIDI, note on/off, velocity, sends on two channels with assignable split/layered/single, all saveable configurations in 128 presets. But the action is really nice and very fast. Played that CS-80 for years and thought it was ...

Re: The obsession for the Analog
Funny how your 2013 rig bears a resemblance to the previous pic's 1977 rig :D Guess I haven't changed much! :D It's easy to forget how far synthesizers have advanced since those 70's. No MIDI, no affordable easy recording. Magnetic tape and good recording equipment was expensive then. And just laye...

Re: The obsession for the Analog
Zombie thread! Like the photo with the 70's setup versus the 10's setup. Remember being told in the 80's how limited my Minimoog was with no memories, monophonic, obsolete. I was almost alone in thinking the new technology did not replace the old, but could complement it. Never thought I would ever ...

Re: Omni-2
The most noticable feature on those early black/orange Arps was the wood sides and a green metal/ceramic logo on them. Never noticed the Omni-2 had those all black caps too.(Nice find Micke!) Are there wood sides on that black capped Omni-2? Seems like the very early ones were manufactured with thin...

Re: Modding a synth: disrespectful ??
Vintage modulars are easy to modify as long as you make the mods on a seperate non-vintage blank panel. No need to drill holes in an old original module when you can just purchase a new blank and make any custom module you need. Have a custom modded module in the second Moog cabinet in the middle ri...

Re: Modding a synth: disrespectful ??
I added a few extra knobs to my Minimoog? As long as you are not drilling holes in the front panels, and the mods are reversable, it seems OK to do. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6s1hi/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/minimod01.jpg Modding was done back in the day, since these vintage instrumen...

Re: Yamaha VL1/VL7
Have one of those PLG-150VL cards. Only paid around $75, although it still needs a host module, they are a great deal. Have it plugged into a Yamaha MU-1000, a small 1/2 wide rack unit. Has 3 of those PLG slots so I found the AN and DX ones to go with it. Not sure how much it models a horn, but for ...

Re: Why so Many Phatties?
Now would be the best time to buy a Phatty. Usually these Moog models get sold off when there is a newer or better release. Right now the Moog SubPhatty is the new product and someone selling off a Phatty might get a low price due to the lower demand. I waited to purchase a T3, and when the Minitaur...

Re: ID this keyboard
Yep, since the Roland is mirrored backward. Looks to be a scanned magazine page, with the print from the back showing through. Cool looking piano though! All Rick needs is that clear plexi/lexan Mellotron to go with it.

Re: CASIO CZ Sysex!
I had a Geocities page up since the 90's. But when Yahoo took over they wanted me to pay a fee to keep the 10MEG site up. Too bad, there were quite a few free sites with great information that vanished from the web. Here is a zipped file of all the CZ sysex files. CZ-1 sysex have some extra bytes of...

Re: 10th Anniversary Minimoog Voyager Gift
But I must have the limited edition official Moog 10th anniversary brass casted filter cutoff knob for my Moog! http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6s1hi/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/904abrass.jpg I registered a few Moog products with the promise of being sent a sticker back in 2005. Never did re...

Another one to add:
Street Trash (1987) Rick Ulfik used a 16 voice FM Synclavier II
I have that same Sync II along with some of the sequence disks from that project.

Re: Favorite Mellotron performances.
Always thought the Melotron made "In the Court of the Crimson King". Something about the sound of the Mellotron? Sounds spookey or distant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlNantlznCA Like Aerosmith's "Dream On" use of the Mellotron too. Here is one of my own, using a sample set I found way back in t...

Re: Have you ever abruptly discovered a new feature on a syn
Sure! I accidentally found an undocumented feature on all the Casio CZ series synthesizers. This had to do with always retriggering the envelopes. Was playing in "solo" mode and every keypress retriggers the EG's. Noticed if I switched on the glide/portamento, but left the value at zero there was no...
