Re: lowest prodution run of a major synth manufacturer

I don't know if this would be classified as more of a prototype than as a production run but I think there were only around 130 Prophet 5 rev 1s made.

There is a review of the Venom by Paul Nagle in the April edition of Sound On Sound magazine.

Re: The rise of the OB Cyclone

Has anyone noticed that these things are going for sillier and sillier money? It's even rubbing off on its sister devices which are nowhere near as good- Navigator, Systemizer, Drummer, Strummer. I've yet to hear signs of one on a commercial release though, apart from (possibly) Jarre. They were ma...

Re: A reasonably priced synth which plays great ARPs

My favourite arps of the synths I own are on the V-Synth and XL-7. I also really like using the arp in Live in combination with the midi random and chord effects. The XL-7 (or any of the other Emu Command Stations) is really cheap and has an amazing arpeggiator and sequencer, although is a bit of a...

Re: A reasonably priced synth which plays great ARPs

http://www.retrosound.de/cyclone1.jpg Nice - I have a Cyclone and hadn't heard it it discussed or seen its picture posted prior to this (...might be wrong) as far as I can remember. As far as synths with good traditional arpeggiators (e.g. Juno 60 style), the Novation A/K Stations have that - I thi...

Re: Songs With Great, Interesting Use of Arpeggiators

I'm pretty sure the sound in Duran Duran's 'Rio" is an arpeggiation with an added delay effect and I like it!

Re: ESQ-1 sysex dump - how to?

http://www.synthmania.com/Ensoniq%20ESQ-1/Images/Ensoniq%20ESQ-1%20manual.pdf Pages 182-183 should have the information to get you going. The manual instructions are for transferring to another ESQ but if you want to send SYSEX to a utility (I use Bohme's SendSX.) then it should work because I've do...

Re: novation k station

Apart from the slightly different filter sound, what are the other differences between the Supernova and the KS? In addition to some of the other differences mentioned, the Nova/SN/SNII have modulation matrixes, can do "oscillator sync" with just one oscillator, have a feature of positive and negat...

Re: novation k station

The K-station is a neat little monster. I usually use it for growl-y arpeggios, though never for live use. It has an error where it likes to reset itself every 6-7 minutes, which I never got around to diagnosing/fixing :/ Hmmm, I've had my A-Station since early 2002, used it a lot and can never rec...

Re: novation k station

Well I had an A-station for a while, and it's the rack version of the K station. They're very different but both are great for aggressive modern electronica sounds. Though the A station was kinda metallic and harsh to me, while the Venom is still harsh but not metallic at all. I liked the filters i...

Re: novation k station

After you have a chance to get familiar with your K-station, I'd be interested in knowing how you like it compared to your Venom.
