Re: Turning your JX-3P into a pseudo-Jupiter

If he's doing those mods for the JX-3P then I would love it if there would also be mods for the Juno-60 that would give portamento, unison detune, and a second envelope. :beg:

...a little OT I know but it does sound pretty cool for the JX3-P which unfortunately I no longer own.

Re: question about m audio venom

I see this topic come up quite a bit and I think the answer is simple. It's how, fundamentally, the sound is created - not the interface, not the intention of the developers and not WHAT sound is created - but, HOW. ROMplers use samples - stored in ROM. JD800 (despite all the sliders and the fanboy...

Re: Synth question.

It depends on what you want/like to do. In some cases a single synth might be fine. There are basic questions you can ask yourself to help zoom in on an answer e.g.: What types sounds will you need or want - Basses, leads, pads, acoustic, SFX? Will you be playing at home or playing out live? Are yo...

Re: Prophet five rev 2

That album was recorded in late '80 but since I haven't seen any live footage or photos from that time I can't tell for sure. Anyway, live footage from early '81 shows Nick with a rev 3. Afaik the rev 3 hit the streets in the fall of that year and he probably knew beforehand that Sequential would c...

Re: Yamaha DX-200 Question

The Yamaha DX200 editor also runs on Windows XP.

You can indeed load DX7 patches into a DX200 via a SYSEX transfer.

You can also edit the DX200 with 3rd party editor software. I have used the editor available at: http://www.fm-alive.com/

Re: Phil Collins "But Seriously" synths

He made it a little more difficult to guess on that album compared to "No Jacket Required" where it was written in the liner notes that no Fairlight was used on this album. ;)

You might want to consider adding a chorus effect. (I have a D-110.)

I'll have to check the Micron manual but a lot of synths allow you to set local control to "off" (so that the Micron wouldn't be making any sounds just sending MIDI messages).
