Re: How old is "Vintage"?

Well, the expression originated in vine circles, originally... There actually is an etymological debate that I ignored on purpose. It could be derived from "vendange", which is the collection of vine grapes. The other version is more plausible, though, IMO, and more relevant in this discussion :thum...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2017

Continuing with some beat experiments and pinging, I wanted to see how some of my non-modular gear behaves with short triggers as audio input. So here is a four-part pinging beat with a Mutronics Mutator, Korg MS20 (original with the MK2 filter) and Roland SH2. http://i65.tinypic.com/t561ie.jpg http...

Re: TR-707 trig out broken

Hi and :welcome: Are you sure it is broken? I.e., did you actually try it or just look at the PCB? Can you post a pic of that PCB? I'm curious to see what it looks like... Also, note that the 707 trigger is programmed on the rimshot, so without a rimshot programmed, there won't be any triggers. You ...

Re: Synth Defects - Ticking Time Bombs

Apparently... My A6 is running smooth though.

The loose ribbon cables can cause "ghost editing" (those and lots of dust). But you just have to reseat them properly.

Re: Eurorack suggestions - new to modular

Some random tips for starting out with Eurorack... Have a realistic budget for it. Then double that :) Same with the case you get. It will get bigger, so buy one that is big enough to begin with. Think about everything you want, then again double the size  However, start very slow with modu...

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015-2017

It’s been quite some time since I’ve done a modular only drumbeat, so that is up this month. I wanted to add a sloppy percussion track from a synced PH8 used for pings. Here are Wowa’s Woodblocks  http://i65.tinypic.com/2hx59gn.jpg https://soundcloud.com/contracommunemopinionem/march-17-wow...

Re: What's going on with all the spam?

Damn. I think while discussing a bleed problem yesterday (thus bumping the thread a few times), Adamstan's epic thread about his homebrewed polysynth ("Spare VCA: Polymod or Multimode VCF?" or sth like that) got deleted amongst some spam. That is truly a pity, I feel terrible for having had a part i...

Re: Synth outputs... balanced or unbalanced?

Depends on what the tube preamp wants to see on its input. Is it a mic preamp? Then you want a (passive) DI (assuming you're using an active instrument, for passive ones use an active DI). Does it take line level sources, without impedance mismatch? Then you can just wire a cable according to Rane 1...

Re: Behringer's Mini Moog

If that's 3U, it's gonna be tiny. Could have added more patchpoints as well...

B€hringer Eurorack, who'd have thought that some years ago. Looking forward to the confusion with their Eurorack mixer line

But I guess this is not for me anyways.
