Re: "I gotta pee" song parody

Yeah baby, really like the video, performance, lyrics, subject and music. I think the mix is too dry, sprinkle in a bit of verb or something. Oh, and work on the Randy Newman voice, pretty close in spots though. Smoke a cigarette and drink some whiskey first, that might do the trick. lol I give it a...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

Yes, Yes Yes, that's it! Excellent.
Record those annoying sounds that are all around us, and make them musical.

I'd forgotten about using a cellphone to capture sounds.

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

Several things I'd like to suggest. 1) pick up a digital hand held recorder like the Tascam Dr-05. You can pick them up on ebay or online stores for under $100.00. http://tascam.com/product/dr-05/ In the early days of sampling, musicians were creating completely unique sounds by sampling every day s...

Re: Prophet 6

Excellent video Marc, I enjoyed this a lot. Nice to see the Prophet 6 doing more than most of the videos and sound bytes we've had so far. I've been on the fence whether I like it or not, or whether it's a potential purchase in the future, and I must admit I'm liking it more and more as the dust and...

Re: Your opinion: Best all around gigging synth

I love my KingKorg, but I don't think of it as an all in one synth, especially if it's going to be the only keyboard being used for live performance. My suggestion would be a used Korg Kronos 61, it's got more than enough power and has enough versatility to go from organ to grand piano to orchestra ...

Re: This time with vocals...

Have you ever heard Kris Kristofferson, Tom Waites or Bob Dylan sing? lol Unless you're trying out to be the lead singer of a hugely popular band, don't worry about it. There are enough subtle effects that can be used without hiding the voice and still allow the "soul" to come through. Just my thoug...

Re: This time with vocals...

Great job. I have to be honest I've never heard this group before. So I checked out some of their stuff on YouTube to compare your cover. They did some pretty good songs, and I liked the music and vocals. (Typical of the time period, but you can tell they were musical and had talent). Your cover is ...

Very nice. I'm an old prog guy but I like a lot of diverse music and I enjoyed it.

Btw, I like the guitar part. :)

Re: What synth can it be? (That Voice Again - Peter Gabriel)

Wow, never saw that video before. I remember the show being a bit more subdued than that. lol Watching the video it looks like it's been sped up. The movement of the players looks unnaturally fast to me, and the vocals also sound sped up. Interesting though, thanks jabberwalky. :) I agree with Z, it...

Re: What synth can it be? (That Voice Again - Peter Gabriel)

Big PG fan. My wife and I have seen every tour except the last two. The first tour in support of his first solo album following his departure from Genesis was not received well. We had tickets to see him at the Masonic Auditorium( in DetroitI picked out our seating in the balcony in the same area I'...

Re: What synth can it be? (That Voice Again - Peter Gabriel)

This is all I've got. Personnel and instruments listed for every song. Link doesn't work for the So album. Info from Wikipedia That Voice Again is listed as song 4 Peter Gabriel – lead and backing vocals, Fairlight CMI, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 (all except tracks 5, 9), piano (all except tracks...

I really like this, nice mellow vibe, but I couldn't help but wish after a minute and a half or so it would break into a full song.
I kept waiting for IT! :)

Re: What synth should I buy for funk and prog?

Had a dot.com for about a year, really enjoyed it. Had the suitcase(portable) version almost filled, including the STG Soundlabs Post Lawsuit Arp 4072 Filter clone.http://stgsoundlabs.com/products/post_lawsuit_lowpass_filter_mu.htm Loved the sound, but unfortunately I had a very small room for my st...

Re: What synth should I buy for funk and prog?

I vote for the King Korg. I love mine, and I think it's a highly underated and overlooked synth. Some of that I believe is due to the fact it came out when a bunch of other new gear was released at NAMM and it was overlooked, also I believe many were turned off by the silly name. It is a deep synth ...
