Re: New hybrid digital/analogue Roland Synth?

Before the prophet 08 range, the little phatty was in many cases the only analog large retailers stocked, particularly in the US. After 2007, outlets like guitarcenter started stocking large amounts of tetras, mophos, mopho x4s, p8s, p8 racks, etc. That's what built the youth analog market that Artu...

Re: New hybrid digital/analogue Roland Synth?

As people have mentioned elsewhere, there was no new-analog consumer non-niche market until DSI basically built it themselves about seven or eight years ago. Behringer are preparing to release a whole range of synths including VCO polys and monos, and there's going to be other new polysynths too, s...

Re: Interesting Article on the NAMM Site

In the last five years there's been a strong rebound from all-software to hybrid setups, strongly helped by the sales of analog hardware as well. What's happening now is a move to an industry with both a lot of hardware and a lot of software - that could be good news for a lot of the firms that fell...

Re: New hybrid digital/analogue Roland Synth?

With this kind of mix of analog and digital features there's all sorts of potential for interesting results. I would very much say wait to hear it before passing judgement.

Re: New hybrid digital/analogue Roland Synth?

Those specs were posted by a gearslutz admin on their special NAMM forum, so you'd have to think they're pretty reliable. I find this synth very interesting. It's different.

Re: Behringer to make analog polysynths !

I still remember all the years of people saying analog synths would never be made on a large scale again :D

Re: Desireless - Voyage Voyage - synths used

On a huge amount of mid-80s recordings, an FM synth or sometimes a sampler is layered with an analog polysynth. That was the just the way people did things then, and that combination is often the "sound of the 80s".

Re: Dave Smith and Roger Linn on Hardware vs Software

Except he had a key role in some of the first softsynths himself, so it's not as if he's new to them.

Re: What do you want from Moog?

"7) A workstation that's part synth, string synth, part theremin and has digital effects." This is actually one of the most interesting ideas of those presented. Firstly it would be cheap ; and paraphonic, and the Sub 37 indicates Moog moving towards paraphonic ; and mainly because the analog workst...

Re: American Airlines Wurlitzer

It's a shame the Wurlitzer pianos haven't been resurrected, like Rhodes, and Hammond, albeit digitally. They were a staple of the 70s almost as much as Rhodes and Moogs.
