Re: Was the Roland D50 the first VA Modelling Synth?

the original thread was about the mixer in the Prop's 'Record' ..somehow it got way off topic

Re: What got you into synths?

On the Monkee's tv show one Monday back in the 60's had a segment that featured Mickey Dolenz's moog modular..which was also used on a couple songs from their 'Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jone, ltd' lp

what a coincidence..I tune pianos for a living, and my favorite are Yamaha's, too.

Re: Congratulations: you're a f***ing synth addict again!

only thing I've bought within the last twelve months has been a mopho. I have more than enough stuff. Doesn't mean I don't suffer from GAS, I've just run out of room.

btw, reaper is not free! you should purchase a license if you use it longer than 30 days.
Just because the demo is not crippled in any way, doesn't mean that it's free.

Re: rank your synths/controllers by key feel

Korg 01/WproX - feels wonderful to play. Wish the thing were lighter so I could gig with it, but it's too damn heavy. M-Audio Keystation Pro88 - not near as nice as the 01/w DX7 mkI - great synth action, but as a controller, velocity only sends up to 100 (or thereabout) DW8000 - I like playing this ...

is the midi good on dx-7?
make sure it's not the dx7mk1 version, as the midi velocity only goes to around 0-99. Look for the mk2 version

Re: What Synth have you gigged the most?

from 1989-95 my Dx7 was a constant. Around 91-92 I added a Korg M3r.
Don't carry the DX anymore as the midi doesn't work, but the M3r is still in my rack.
