Re: What is with all the Russian synths

actually they have a bad reputation for it's instability, really a pain in the a*s,most of the time this thing is out of control. and to me polivoks sounds too agressive and unusable, I prefer Aellita for it's lyricism. It was produced by a group of genius soviet engeneers on a secret plant))I'm no...

Re: synthesizers that made impact in electronic music produc

Juno 6-60-106/Korg Polysix (something about the number 6 was magical back then ): Some of the first "affordable" polysynths. Before, you had to spend the late '70s-early '80s equivalent of over 10 grand for polyphony. Thus, lots more people were getting their hands on sounds that up until that ...

Re: What is with all the Russian synths

This thing looks bad a*s! http://ruskeys.net/base/img/aelita1.jpg Good choice, this is actually is the best you could choose from USSR synth production. I have one and it's amazing. As for everything else I strongly would not recommend you any of soviet synth, honestly. All they are just a pathetic a...

I'll show you some cool Tangerine Dream" haha. I like how the poodle gets his own sweet theme music. Yeah, he mentioned on his site how much he l...

Re: WORST youtube synth demo?

Get Lyonel's videos out of the thread!!!!! lol just kidding. but seriously Lyonel is as nice as they come, very good at what he does. However, I bet he would sound amazing regardless what he used. He clearly has a good ear for music. You have to remember only a small percentage of the people who bu...

I still think it's awesome that they use 2 BCR2000's onstage. Only $150 apiece, but dammit they get the job done! :D

No matter what kind of sound reinforcement is used, it's always a good practice to turn the amps on last. Period.

Re: What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?

[quote="Clavier"]most I've paid was $400 for my Motif 6, but I really don't count that as a synth, so I figure it would have to be my P5, for the equivalent of $350 ($200 cash + plus a busted DX7 and Korg DW6000). The most I've paid for a keyboard, is $600 for my suitcase Rhodes piano. Holy price co...

Both, it would seem. Going by both my synths that I put in, the dates seemed to jive pretty well. (Happy 25th to my MKS! :D ) I also put in the serial # from my BF-2 flanger, and it said 1998, which fits as well.

Cool! Thanks for the link. Seems my JX-8P was made in May, 1985 and my MKS in Nov 1986.

Re: calling good digital sounds "analog"

My thoughts are the word analog (or analogue for you across the pond) is so poorly-over-mis-used it's lost all meaning in general discourse about synths. Beat example I can think of is a sample disk that came with Future Music magazine some years ago that contained "Analogue Bass samples". I expect...

Re: What's the deal with the Roland JD-800?

Build-wise, it has a steel base and an aluminium panel, but the plastic end caps - especaly the left - are prone to major damage from impacts (they are no longer stocked at Roland-trust me. Much as I love old Roland stuff, this is what burns me the most. My JX-8P sounds awesome, but I loathe those ...
