Re: Modern Arp Odyssey equivalent?

In this case, the oddy might be worth saving up for. Right now it's one of the best kept secrets in classic analog synthesis. It's expensive, but not too overhyped or overpriced for what it really is. Arp made quite a lot of these, and I think the supply pretty much meets the demand for them right ...

Re: An FM synth with knobs?

DX200 into FS1r: Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my! FM From h**l!!! Another option is the BCR-2000. Someone on the Yahoo group for it contributed a preset that gave it knob-per-function. Granted, it takes 3 memory spaces on the BCR, but sure beats the h**l out of programming it the old fashio...

Re: What's the best way to sequence this hardware??

It probably goes without saying, but you'll most likely want to set each keyboard to a different MIDI channel. That way, you can have each sequencer track devoted to a different channel/sound. You'll probably want to make your master controller the one that switches output channels the easiest, so a...

I've seen live footage of them using a source on that track. Would recognize that funky blue thing anywhere. :D

2.Megadeth (Holy wars, tornado of souls. Hanger 18.) Single biggest influence on my guitar playing, dave's riffs rule and learning marty friedman solos changed my life. 4.Elton John (Funeral for a friend/love lies bleeding, yellow brick road) 100% my main influence for how I approach and play piano...

I much prefer their chicken, myself.

To the OP, Sliders for envelope and knobs for everything else works for me. The more sliders you have, the more you'll be reaching for that can of Deoxit, imo.

Re: Your most reliable vintage synth? ;)

Not so good: ESQ-1 (which had been tortured by the original owner) . You know what's crazy? Mine was also tortured by its previous owner (which helped contribute to me finding it at a pawn shop for less than $150) However, even though it's in sorta rough condition cosmetically, it still functions g...

Re: I tried the KRONOS

Had a similar experience myself, except I had to hook up my own mono speaker since the jackasses at GC don't seem to think a person would want to be able to play something before they buy it, or even be around to make a sale in the first place. Nonetheless, yes it took a long time to boot. Make sur...

Re: Juno 106... good or bad?

As Solderman pointed out, only you can really make that judgment call. And as far as Jexus' reviews go, there's a reason why he rates synths the way he does. This for example: http://jexus.id.uw.edu.pl/syntezatory_prv_pl/roland_jp8000.htm (scroll down to where he says "Let's divide people into 3 cat...

Re: Virus Moog filters question

I was thinking about picking up a tube amp to try and warm up the sound a bit. Anyone have any opinions on this? Hope it doesn't lead to an overly distorted sound. Something like this might be just what you're looking for. http://backstage.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/art-tube-mp-studio-mic-preamp...

Re: Winter Namm 2011

I dunno I don't mind the Biyang pedals, they're nicely priced and don't have an atrocious noise floor like the B company. Oh yeah, they're alright, I've got the delay. (It's not analogue by the way). The thing I thought was funny was that Akai were calling them 'Custom Shop' when they should really ...
