Thanks for the links. Vince is awesome. Such talent, and he seems really down-to-earth too.

Re: Vince DiCola's "Transformers...The Movie" OST

Ah memories. Back when I was a kid, the only thing I was more obsessed with than Transformers was Nintendo. I still have the movie on DVD. Kinda OT, but I was really impressed with some of the voice talent they were able to secure for the movie, especially Orson Wells as Unicron. :!: the voice acti...

Re: Screw the iPad I want THIS!!!

Apple didn't invent touchscreens either (so far as I know), they just seem to have a knack for making and marketing portable devices with interfaces that people find intuitive and pleasant. First big public display of touch screens was an HP display at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, KY. Ha! My...

Re: What got you into synths?

just as a poll, how old are we all? I'm guessing, Dogboy73 that '73 was around the time of your birth - I'm '75, and I see the same sort of influences and progression into all of this as you've had. It'd be quite telling to see how different generations were exposed to synthesis... the older guys b...

Could be, although with more and more companies going to SMD, it might be difficult. Never seen the inside of a 201, though, so I don't know what kinds of components they used in it.

Ha! Viewed it once, and it got removed already. I love that message at the top of the screen: "The seller is away. There may be a delay processing your order." In other words, once they get the money and run, there's nothing Ebay can do to get your money back!"

Re: Roland JX8P advise

How is that behringer? No complaints here. The unit will actually do a h**l of a lot more than Behringer lets on. Each encoder can be programmed to send either SYS-EX, control changes, or NRPN, plus it has a learn mode that actually works. (What a concept! :D ) So far, I've used it for the JX, MKS5...

Re: Roland JX8P advise

JX8P owner here. There is indeed no PWM, though Sound on Sound has an article featuring a workaround using the crossmod. I'm convinced that a lot of those people who leave comments on VSE have never really used the boards they're commenting on. For programming, I use a Behringer BCR2000. They go for...

Re: Fantom G production terminated?

Imo, the Fantom G is dead ... Sales have never been strong, and they're now in cellar, I imagine ... Doubt it will see the long-awaited v2.0 update as well as any more expen$ive, underwhelming ARX cards ... Three and out for Roland here ... There were so many bad design decisions with this workstat...

I know they're probably not the most popular act around here, but Flake Lorenz used softfynths pretty extensively on the last few Rammstein albums.

Re: Prophet 08 vs Prophet 08PE.

Ah, perhaps it would help if I said a bit more about where I am at right now. A few months ago, I got a TX 802 on ebay for next to nothing. It should be great but the menu diving is so bad that it is essentially useless. For software, I have just not found anything that I like all that much. The be...
