Re: Any synths with keys like the yamaha cs-80?
don't remember is the ASR-10 also as poly aftertouch. According to the manual, it should, but mine doesn't seem to be working properly. When MIDI'd to my ESQ-1, I can't get any AT at all when the ASR is set in "poly" mode, but "channel" mode works fine. That's because the ESQ-1 only supports channe...

Still have my first hardware synth (Korg M1). Also still have my first sampler: A Casio SK-5 that I've had for about a quarter of a century now.

Trent Reznor's old Q rack 2 years ago. It ended up selling for a pretty decent price, but not to me unfortunately.

Re: possibly stupid question RE:power switches
I have multiple synths plugged into strips, and I've never had a problem with turning them on at the same time.

Re: The synth-pr0n thread.
I asked Joel about the polys last time he livestreamed a couple days ago. They're sitting in storage at the moment due to lack of studio space. He used to have the JP-6 in front of the computer, but now there's a new mixing desk there instead. I hope the ARP2600 and EMS Synthi gets some love too be...

Sounds great. It's pretty amazing how much can be accomplished with free software.

Re: The synth-pr0n thread.
Sweet! Thanks for posting those. I wonder if he's relegated the hardware polys to live use only, since I can't see them anywhere in the pics.silikon wrote:![]()

Re: Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis
An example easy to understand: Now, a transwave sampler... that would make my pants wet.... In this light, the ASR-10 basically looks like an advanced TranseWave (waveform modulation) synthesizer in which YOU create its WaveSamples! Now if only that was more than halfway true... I think they were o...

Re: Harrison Mixbus DAW
I've been interested in this one for quite a while, not so much for tracking as for mixing. It's cool how Harrison simply built their mixer on top of an open-source DAW. It seems to have quite a few fans in the pro audio market but not amongst hobbyists. It used to be cheaper and Mac only, probably...

Re: Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis
Thanks for your reply. I was strongly considering getting a Fizmo, in part because I was allured by "transwave synthesis". But Ive been doing a lot of reading and it seems like there isn't much of a distinction between transwave and wavetable synthesis. Also, Ive heard many of the wavetable synths ...

Re: Digital Subtractive Synthesis
I What exactly is Digital Subtractive Synthesis.. been wondering this for a long time. Haven't really played a D-50, so I can't answer the first two. I'll take a stab at the last one, though. Basically, it's the same as analog subtractive synthesis. The only real difference is the method of tone ge...

I dunno, man. They've said time after time that they're not going to release a keyboard version of the Tetra. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.megamanx wrote:Tetra keys, for the price of a prophet 08 module...(me thinks)

170864443515 Dude's got heaps of interesting gear for sale (counted at least 3 Rhythm Jesters, etc), though all 2-3x over normal selling prices, unfortunately. Dude must just be looking for dumb schmucks who don't know any better. That's the only explanation I can think of for the constant r...
