Re: Ever have that Homer Simpson "doh" minute

Like Rhino, I too have a post in the "help" section detailing one of these. In my case, it came from trying to set up my Behringer BCR to control my MKS50. After much grumbling and frustration, I realized that the reason it wasn't responding was because I had left a line of code out of each SYS-EX s...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

This once seems kind of absurd, considering that right now there's one for $575 and another for $650. BIN is $1750.

Re: Atomo Labs Krakken

You can't play the MFOS synth with a midi controller, can you? I had a WSG that was cool but the knob only interface limited it's application for me. This looks cool though http://cgi.ebay.com/Sound-Lab-Analog-Synthesizer-Music-Outerspace-MFOS-/180521404753?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Keyboards_MIDI&hash=item2...

Re: Fixed! MKS-50 not responding to SYS-EX?

Problem solved, and I feel like a bit of a dumbass. Turns out there was one line of code missing from each string. :banghead: Once I inserted that in, everything worked. Oh well, at least I've learned quite a bit over the last 24 hours. Before last night, I'd never programmed a SYS-EX message before...

Re: MKS-50 not responding to SYS-EX?

The BCR implementation of sysex isn't that great. Have you used it for sysex with other gear before? Yes, the JX8P has good MIDI but Roland hosed the JX10...and more recently the JP8080. Aside from the JX-8P, I've also used a DX7 file successfully with Hexter (DSSI DX7 emulator), and have no doubt ...

Re: MKS-50 not responding to SYS-EX?

The manual says sysex is only received if the PATCH MIDI Function is on. Whatever that is :? Sounds like you must be in patch mode for it to work. You have to enable it for each patch individually  1. Select PATCH 2. Select PARAMETER until it shows MIDI EXCL 3. Set it to ON 4. Save the patch...

Fixed! MKS-50 not responding to SYS-EX?

Ok, this is kind of a complex, shot-in-the-dark type question, but has anybody had issues trying to get their MKS-50 to respond to SYS-EX patch edit commands? I've got a Behringer BCR2000, and I wrote a preset for it to basically make it a virtual PG-300. I mapped each parameter going by the manual,...

Re: Synth Spotting at the Mall - Korg DS-10

The DS-10 is brilliant. And now you can mess around with the Korg M1 in Nintendo shape, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll4aGXzj7Vw No word on when/if it's coming to the states, but I did find something on Play Asia that suggests there won't be regional protection. http://www.play-asia.com/KORG...

JX-8P noise issue

On my JX-8P, I'm getting some rather weird/nasty distortion in the highest octave. It seems to present itself mostly when playing more than one note at a time. This isn't really an issue anywhere else on the board, just in the last 12-13 keys or so. Any ideas as to what may be causing this? Thanks.

Re: Brilliant Ensoniq ESQ1 / SQ80 site

wow! but presumably you could use a generic midi controller like the behringer one? T'would take a shit-load of programming. Plus, to match that monster knob-for-knob would require the use of two presets on the BCR, as there are 32 knobs, and the top row of encoders can have 4 groups per preset. Ot...

Re: Woo! Picked Up A TX7! Great Little Synth...

Was in my local Guitar Center the other day and they actually had a used DX7... Man, my GC sucks for used synths. Last time I was in there, the only thing used they had in the whole keyboard section was an 88 key M-Audio controller with a busted key. Course, they suck for new synths, too, but that'...

Re: What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?

SY77 The first synth I ever really played with, back in college. Didn't have a clue what I was doing, either. I'm gonna have to get me one eventually. EDIT To answer the original question, not technically a synth, but my ASR-88 is pretty damn deep, 367 page user manual and all.

Re: Easiest way to tell if a Juno 106 has no defects?

I had one that was in great working condition.. they're not all broken. Yeah, for some reason they seem to get a worse reputation in terms of reliability than something like a Pro~One which is not only older, but flimsier. Dunno why. :? Law of averages would be my best guess. Not sure how many Pro-...

Re: Moog Voyager XL

are you sure? because i get the distinct feeling some have Not from their original prices, except for the odd ducks like the TB-303 which was a bargain piece of plastic c**p which is now stupidly overpriced. A good example of this is the OB-XA. What it cost new in 1981 would be the equivalent of ov...
