Re: Well, so much for the BCR

It's Behringer or it's expensive. These BCRs are around 140 euro, more expensive alternatives are usually 6x that sum, and smaller/cheaper ones (Nocturrne) are things of which you wonder whether you really need it to be that small. Afaik there's nothing like the BCR in the 300..400 euro range. Plen...

Re: Well, so much for the BCR

I have 2 second hand BCRs, aside from one having a broken usb socket (I only use them over midi anyway) they have been fine after some years. Are you certain you didn't set the 2 encoders to the same control? it's possible to set up a bcr so that one knob will change ALL lights on the unit (if all ...

Re: Which synthesizer(s) do you regret getting or selling

I'm fortunate in that I haven't had to sell a synth yet. However, as far as other gear goes, I most regret selling my Jackson DK2, but hard times call for sacrifices. As far as buying goes, I'm still kinda on the fence about the JX-8P, especially with the buttons being dodgy as they are. Time will t...

Well, so much for the BCR

Those of you who have a BCR-2000 that actually works, be glad. The first one I got from Amazon had 3 encoders DOA. So, I initiated the exchange process and got a second one. The second one didn't have any dead encoders, however it did have two that were electronically linked together. When you turn ...

What's the patch that Van Halen used for Jump?
I think it was called "OB" something or other. Can't quite remember, though.

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

This one's interesting to say the least. Wonder if anyone will bite? It could be pretty cool if done right. However, there's no guarantee that this is the case, and it could just be 3 mangled synths that'll go Tango-Uniform in less than a year's time. :?

Re: The appearance of a synth Manual

Gotta have a printed manual. That being said, I haven't printed off the manual for my ASR yet, due to the sheer volume of it (360+ pages!). On a side note I'm finding the JX-8P manual to be rather amusing. Typical 80's "Engrish" from back before Roland had native English speakers proofread their man...

Re: Examples of great electronic compostions in video games

Capcom games always had great music. Agreed. Here are a few of my Capcom favorites: Ken Masters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOI2eqXL3ek Flash Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fMHqEGL-q8 Snake Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPNaQEjgXyY And since it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet,...

Re: Synths with Easter Eggs

Not really an easter egg but had to post it in case anybody missed it. http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2010/04/waldorf-implements-tracking-software.html LOL! That is hilarious. I wonder if Waldorf actually set up an account for that. Would've been amusing if they'd have played along like it was ser...

Re: Any need for VA gear still??

Virus TI- 16 part multitimbral, @50 voices under normal multitimbral use so basically, its worth about 5 analog polysynths. Heck, my nova is 6-way multitimbral and 24 voices. I can tuck it in my backpack. I hate to think about carrying a 24-voice analog polysynth :D Unless maybe you had a PS-3100. ...

Re: New (old) synth, and a couple questions

I've jusp put in an order for some assorted switches from Mouser. Still hope to mod something that will work sucessfuly, without damage to the original boards. I'll keep posted on the board. Thanks, I appreciate it. In the meantime, it's something I can live with. At least the buttons still work, a...

Re: New (old) synth, and a couple questions

Thanks Rhino. Looks like this could be a real PITA. I found the service manual, and it appears as though the switches are on their own board. Too bad I can't find one of those for sale by itself.

New (old) synth, and a couple questions

Over the weekend I bought a JX-8P for $250 off Ebay from a guy one state over. It works pretty well for the most part, aside from some rather unresponsive tact buttons and the highest A key, which seems to not sound half the time. And when it does sound, it seems to latch into the "on" position unti...

Re: Synth Spotting at the Mall - Korg DS-10

I've been kind of toying with the idea of getting a DS precisely for this reason. Plus, I already have a Wii, and they supposedly integrate well with each other.
