SM cards are getting pretty pricey. Make sure to get an SM to XD card adapter and a few 128mb XD cards.

Re: Why buy hardware synths?
Sometimes I love jamming with my eyes closed. On my main pieces I know where every button, knob, switch is, how many times I have to press a button to get to a menu I want, how many clicks I need to turn to get the parameter I want.

An accurate sub I can think of would be, if you can't afford a 303, get an x0xb0x.
Or if you can't afford an Alesis Andromeda, get a kazoo.

Re: Strings and orchestral sounds, which synth is the best?
I have a Kurzweil PC361 and its stunning, sounds straight up belong on a movie score. Strings, pads, pianos, EPs, and orchestral type stuff blow Motif away. Motif XS is still nice, but Kurzweil in on another league. A used K2000 or K2500 which still sound very nice, can be had for under a grand and ...

Re: Looking for some ideas for a new synth.
You want a Virus keyboard, but don't want to pay, a used Virus C is a valid choice. You could also use it as an FX unit for your other synths.
A Kurzweil K2500S or K2600S or XS woud also be nice. synth and sampler with VAST and KDFX.

Re: Need a Hardware MIDI Sequencer, Looking at the Yamaha RMX-1
The rm1x has realtime loop remix, but not as robust as the rs7000. The rs7000 has 16 tracks per pattern, 26 patterns, and stores 5 mute scenes. The midi fx and grid groove control are great. It has synth/drum voices based on Yamaha's AWM2 engine. There is a vast array of drums/percussion, and the sy...

Re: Kurzweil PC3 vs Kurzweil 2600 vs ...
I haven't used a 2600, but I have the PC361. Spec wise the PC3 series just has more of everything the 2600 has, more included ROMs, more polyphony, more arpeggiators, the VA-1 synthesis engine, dynamic VAST, usb interface/pc editor, more powerful KDFX. The PC3X has fully weighted hammer action keys....

Re: Congratulations: you're a f***ing synth addict again!
Just this year I bought a Roland Juno 106, modded x0xb0x with sokkos, a Studio Electronics ATC-X with quad filters, a Motif XS6 which I quickly sold and bought a Kurzweil PC361. Plus a couple of fx racks, compressor, and pedals. Oh and Serato Scratch.
I'm almost done though, I swear LOL.
