Re: Standalone Sequencer

Check the saving options too. Some may not have a disc drive or whatever.

Re: Standalone Sequencer

Roland MC-50. The Mk II version plays MIDI files (there is a programme that can be loaded into the Mk I but I could never get it to work). You'll have enough tracks and the learning curve won't be steep. http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y507/gcoudert/CC6BC8B1-CFF5-4B2F-B77D-766EE6C6AF06_zpsgsgeiz...

Re: New Roland Boutique.

And it's 16-voice polyphonic, unlike the early 'boutiques'. That's why I didn't keep the JP-08.

Wasn't Hot Food the name of their publishing company? Or Midge Ure's? Or did I imagine it?

Re: Korg Wavestation Revisited (inc 25 year old demo)

I used to create wavesequences using a single waveform at slightly different volumes and cross-faded to add subtle 'movement' to pads, then I'd layer & pan two of them so the pad appeared to shift randomly across the stereo field.

Roland JV-1080 module or keyboard equivalent (XP-80) but only with the Vintage Synth card.

Re: Korg Wavestation Revisited (inc 25 year old demo)

I bought a brand new Wavestation SR around that time. I think I paid around £999 for it and sold it about 8 years later for £200. Great synth and a vast improvement on the M1. I do miss it sometimes and might buy another if one comes up at the right price. I must re-post those third-party patch bank...

(Un)balanced synth outputs

Just wondering: Outputs 1-2 (pair A) on my Fantom keyboard are labelled 'balanced' but the other two aren't. 1. Can I assume that outputs 3-4 (pair B) are unbalanced? If so, why would they do this? 2. Likewise, the Yamaha TX802's manual makes no mention of whether individual outputs 1-8 and outputs ...

Re: Why are Euroracks called "Euroracks?"

I assume Behringer's Eurorack-series mixers are a completely different thing. I am surprised that the same name is used for different products / rack standards.

Re: Slight buyer's remorse on my Jupiter 6...

I was never a fan of the Jupiter 6 - I don't like it's sound character, or the way it looks, or the controls, it's always been a bit "meh" for me. *Some* of that is the "it's not an 8" thing, as I *do* love the JP8, but then I also really like other Roland synths like the JX8P/JX10. I agree. Back i...

Question about contact cleaner

Just wondering. How long should I wait before switching a synth back on after spraying contact cleaner into sliders? I use Comma Contact Clean spray and there is no information on the canister other than the usual safety precautions.
Thanks.

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?

The Akai XE8 drum module is basically unusable without the manual, as is the Roland D70.

12dB/oct or 24dB/oct filter: practical uses?

This will sound like a complete noob question from somebody with 30+ years' experience but here it is: I understand the theory behind 12 and 24 dB/oct filters and, as a JP-8080 owner, I can clearly hear the difference between the slopes but, how would you decide when to use one or the other? Are the...
