Re: Kiwi-3p - Experiences?

I installed it into mine... the interface is pretty confusing at first, but once you actually get into it it's a snap. I printed and laminated the menu legend to stick over it... which really helps since it is quite complex. My favorite thing to do with it is combine the pattern generator with the a...

Re: First monitors...Cheapest?

If I may share my experience/opinion on the subject.... I've used a $100 altec lansing computer speaker system to listen to my gear for years, it was a funny contrast to the rest of my collection but they sounded good enough and had a sub... I knew my amplification was substandard but if I was mixin...

Re: Geddy Lee Oberheim Moog mashup synth

I'm pretty sure their tech was heavy into modding their synths... one of my friends had Geddy's old OBXa and it was modded to be controlled by taurus pedals. When he was selling it, it was dead and the voice cards alone went for more cash than I had at the time... really wish I coulda got it and tri...

Re: Jupiter-4 restoration... thoughts?

Yea, I'd say with cmos it either works or it doesn't... performance wise you probably won't notice any differences in replacing anything. There is no in-between of performance in logic, since its either 'high' or 'low' or "01110111 01101111 01110010 01101011 01101001 01101110 01100111" * •translated...

Re: Jupiter 6 vs Jupiter 8 Envelopes

One of the best things IMO about analogs is that the envelopes continue where they left off depending on how much attack or release is set, after you let go of a key. Its just the way they work, and I personally prefer it. I wish they'd build it as a feature into modern digital synths to. Really? W...

Re: Juno 60 "JU-60" marking

Roland did use a filter that caused some issues but that was way before, in the original SH-3 if I remember rightly, and that was a transistor ladder, not series OTAs.. Even if my post is OT from the real topic of the thread, I just want to mention that the SH3 is actually a diode ladder. The whole...

Re: Dead Voice on Jupiter 8?

The actual voice boards on the jp8 are actually pretty straight forward. The nightmare part of it is the digital side in the CPU board etc... any decent tech should be able to fix a voice problem, its not as hard as they would think. h**l, I've worked on my jupiter 8 and to me it's analog side is pr...

Re: Jupiter 6 vs Jupiter 8 Envelopes

Ok. I guess I misunderstood what slow envelopes were. I guess what I mean is how the voices trigger. If I for example hit the "C" key 5 times in a row and it has a long release, the note doesn't retrigger from the start of the envelope. So it doesn't even sound like you are hitting the note again. ...

Re: Another New/Classic OBERHEIM!!

Of course he will sell some of these... just maybe not as many as the SEMs he's been putting out. Which is FINE by me... I feel he's already stretching he resources, and the last thing he needs to do is make another hot product for which he cannot keep up demand (and which is invariably putting off...

Re: Another New/Classic OBERHEIM!!

Whoah! I thought the keyboard in that video was just a mock-up he'd made for himself, but it looks like he's actually producing a new 2-Voice: http://www.tomoberheim.com/images/2VC-01b.jpg The website says June 2012! http://www.tomoberheim.com 8-) My word that thing is proper. Will scrounge to fund
