Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!

I borrowed the idea from Funkagenda. Did this in Logic, but everyone should have the ability to do this. It is really, stupidly simple. If you don't want to run a limiter on a track, or for any other reason you want the track to be clean, but you still don't want it to clip. Load the bit crusher plu...

I do have to agree that the Analog Factory bundle is a great deal, especially if your new to the whole thing.

Re: Then..... what soft sound the nearest to a Roland jupiter 8?

Honestly Arturia's Jp8 is a really great sounding synth. Of course it does not sound exactly like a JP8, but it's close. Just add a good quality EQ, compression and a little PSP vintage warmer and your pretty much there. I don't have a JP8 at home only a JP6, so I can not do side by side comparisons...

I love KVR.

That's how I found the Poly850, along with all the free stuff.

Re: Then..... what soft sound the nearest to a Roland jupiter 8?

Honestly look at your cost to benefit ratio. Are the parts that you would be recording require a true JP-8 sound? Chances are you don't really need a JP-8. If you are doing a side by side test, then you could say that they are not the same, however when getting a JP-8ish sound it works really well. ...

MitchK1989 wrote: EDIT: Also, they've released only two distortions, and one is a model of diode based overdrive pedals and such, and the other is based on modeling both tube and solid state preamp distortion... Not exactly similar.

Code wise I am sure they are very very similar.

Re: Depeche sound in Logic

I am sure it is an Arp 2600. Gore loves the thing, and "Playing the Angel" was going back to more traditional DM synths. I would suggest using Arturia's Arp2600V or even some other semi/fully modular softsynth. I would start with a square wave and add some ringmod, and also setting the mod wheel to ...

Your Arturia secrets please...

I had a $500 credit on ebay from last fall that was set to expire soon. Not wanting it to go to waste I figured I should use it. It the same time I was also thinking that I need to pick up a license for the MiniMoog V as I got some use out of the demo. Since I usually buy my new hardware and softwar...

Re: Native Instruments Maschine

My biggest concern is the hardware itself. NI seems to like really junky hardware. They also really like sharp edges. Take the kore controller for example. The edges are so sharp that I cut myself. Now that's no fun. I had to rig up some padding to prevent me from getting cut on it. That was until I...

Re: fazortan - good string machine effect plugin?

All of D16's effects plug ins are all just variations of the same distortion plug in. There really is nothing special about them. Fazorton is nothing more then a weak fazer with some bit crushing really. I was able to get a better effect using Logic's fazer and bit crusher. I used to like D16 a lot....

My SE1X is my (Not so much) secret weapon. I love the thing. Like others have mentioned it is really punchy. I found this especially truthful when working with fifths. A lot of fun.

Re: VA Softsynth vst's or Virus TI?

I owned an Indigo for quite some time. When the TI's were first introduced I just had to get one. So I sold my Indigo. Then as I saved up for the rest of the money things feel through. When the snow came out I was thinking that it was the answer to my prayers, however at this point I had been using ...
